Ah, this post was a godsend last year. Seeing it, of course, reminds me that tomorrow is the one year anniversary of my Stanford rejection, which in retrospect was one of the best things to happen in my life.

^HAHHAHAHA. maan. thats quoteable.
well, im not an EA applicant, but my heart goes out to all of the people that are…
someone bump this thread come april 1.
thank you for posting this.

Yale is so much better for me than Stanford would have been, and thus I’m really glad Stanford rejected me so that I would apply and be accepted to Yale.

Bumpity Bump

All Yale hopefuls should read this!!!

Okay, for those of you rejected or deferred it’s time to go reread the first post in this thread.

I’ve read this thread before while waiting for my Yale SCEA results.

Now that I’ve been rejected, I’ve just read it again. Of COURSE I’m shattered (WHO wouldn’t be disappointed?), especially since a friend of mine (also intl) got accepted with stats similar to mine. But thanks coureur, I’m trying to move on from Yale now!

^^Yeah, it’s tough when a dream dies, no matter what anybody says. I know there is nothing I can say that will remove the disappointment. I’m just here to point to a much brighter light on the horizon.

^ I like feathers.0’four was also rejected after truly 100% believing that I would get deferred. Sounds really arrogant now that I think about it. But rereading your post makes me feel like there’s hope for the future.

Deferral and rejection are both bad news, but a rejection has an abrupt, shocking finality to it that can leave you literally stunned. A minute ago you were so focused on Yale. Yale this. Yale that. Yale, Yale, Yale. You go on-line and 20 seconds later your Yale College dream is over forever.

This is especially true in SCEA when you have only this one crushing result. In RD the rejections are unpleasant for sure, but you have all these excellent acceptances to counterbalance the bad news and all these other schools to start focusing on and choosing among.

If I had my way there would be no early admissions for any school - all RD.

Thanks coureur, for posting this every year. I read your post last week and made a mental note to send it to my D in case of deferral or rejection. She was deferred today. I just sent her the link.
