White male, good public school in CT

I plan on applying to Harvard EA, UNC Chapel Hill EA Uconn EA, and RD to BU, Brown, GW, Georgetown, MIT, Penn, Princeton, Tufts, Wesleyan, Yale

decent chances…

go for it. I would recommend ED to Penn or something not as hard as harvard, because it doesn’t give any boost to you.

Thanks for the advice, still I don’t plan to ED anywhere only because I don’t think I want to make the commitment.

You have a good list. You have excellent qualifications, and I am certain you will get into several very good schools. You may not get into all of them, because there are a lot of others with similar achievements vying for the same spots–but you will do very well.

bump bump bump

Your ECs are pretty dull, and you are from CT of all places which will definitely hurt you. Competitive, but not compelling for ivies. UNC + G’Town are matches! (I live near UNC it’s a fabulous school! I’m applying EA as well!)

Chance back…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1231725-yale-scea-chance-will-chance-back.html

I was under the impression that harvard uses a restrictive early action program. A representative from the school told me that you can only apply EA to harvard, although it is not binding.

You have to read the rules carefully–you can often apply SCEA but also apply early on a “rolling” basis to state universities. I don’t remember specifically what Harvard allows.
