So what do you think my chances are? Please let me know. Do not hesitate to be harsh or realistic in your posts. If there's anything else I should add, please let me know. Thanksin advance and good luck this year to all seniors applying RD.

you asked if race/income matters...and yes it does :( as an asian female who got deferred in the EA round who has comparable stats to you, it seems that being asian is more of a detriment as a help, and as someone else remarked on the official decisions thread, Yale seems to be rejecting more and more qualified asians each year. It's unfortunate, but it's true. you have a lot of good things going for you and a lot of leadership, so i hope that distinguishes you from the rest of the RD pool. best of luck!!

I think Yale rejected more qualified applicants, period, this year. I don't see a direct racial correlation as compared to previous years.

You should take a look at the decision thread to see some of the stats of the accepted and deferred to get an idea of where you might stand. While the stats of the accepted students are highly impressive, you may also notice that they deferred a lot of people with higher scores, so it is not all about scores. Some of it is a crapshoot, a lot of it is about essays and EC's. Those, more than anything except grades, carry great weight in acceptance. However, your stats put you in the ballpark. Good luck from a slightly bitter deferree.

hey SASWombat, i'm a fellow debater, and i have a few various tournament trophies

for the Academic Honors section, did u just put "various debate tournament awards" or wut?
