Haven’t gotten any interview notifications - anyone know when the interview cutoff date is? (i.e the deadline for interviewers to send their reports back to Yale)
@mubaracas, congrats! Even though you didn’t get an interview, did you hear anything from Yale between when you applied to when you got acceptance? My D applied to Yale RD, never heard anything. This dead silence is killing her. We live in a place where there are probably no Yale alum, so probably no interview.

Did anyone get any likely call or email from the admissions?
Yes, my son got a LL and is now registered for YES-W in two weeks. Very excited and proud of him!
Thanks @otter101, I´ll call them today! I just graduated from high school, that´s why my counselor sent the final report with the last two trimesters. Anyway, thank you!!
AFAI yes-w is for STEM students right? My D is not STEM.
Congrats @jrtgsdrule! That’s great!
I think my interview tonight went really well. My interviewer and I talked about traveling like half the time. It’s the best when you and your interviewer have commonalities of interest. It makes it easier to chat.
quick question: I only have two extracurricular activities, boy scouts(eagle) and another community service one, both of which i’ve been doing for roughly 6 years. Is my ec category too weak. Also in my interview, we talked about food for 15 minutes… it was great.
My D applied a week before deadline and didn’t hear from Yale until yesterday and we are only 45 min from Yale. But in the same day she also received an interview email from Yale-NUS for so I suspect the interviews are just staggered.
Has anyone heard of Yale notifying RD acceptance prior to date such as 3/27 of last year for class of 2018…or do hundreds of emails go out all on same day?
@123Monkey, as far as I know, everyone logs into their Eli account and gets the news online at the same time.
All ivy’s are releasing 3/31/15 at 5:00 pm eastern time.
@desier1, really? I’ve seen at multiple places in this forum that it will be on 3/27 at 5pm.
@desier1 I don’t think all ivy leagues have the same decision date… for example Brown says “late march”, cornell says “early april”. I haven’t found anything about Yale yet, but I don’t think they’ll all be released at the same time.
@fizzy110 They actually all do release on the same day. It’s called “Ivy Day” colloquially. And it is indeed March 31 for this year.
@collegeapps2k14 Wow well I based my conclusion off of what was on their websites, I’ve never heard that particular phrase. Ivy Day is gonna be one heck of day!
@fizzy110, it can be a very tricky day and day after. My son’s high school sent around 20% to an Ivy last year, but there were obviously people who were rejected. For the RD accepts it was considered good form to mute the celebrations to respect the feelings of those who might not have gotten into their first choice.
@Justong @jrtgsdrule I just received a likely letter call, and I’m very excited/surprised.
I’m in no way interested in STEM and I’m not an athlete. I haven’t taken any sciency subject tests (except bio, and my score for that sucked). I clearly indicated that I’m interested in poli sci stuff. So I guess they don’t JUST care about STEM. people who hate math/science unite!
But again, the majority of people who get in don’t get a likely letter, and I wasn’t at all expecting this. So good luck to everyone going through this thread you all seem very supportive and awesome
@Melissawilliams, Congrats! I’m really happy for you. Can you explain something to me - 1. what is a likely letter? What does it say? 2. When did you get it? today?
@luv2sk8 Thank you! it’s basically a college formally committing to accepting you, so long as you don’t start failing all your classes or get expelled or something. I haven’t gotten the actual letter yet (so I’ll update you when I do) I just received a phone call yesterday from an admissions officer saying this information (she called it an early notification that I’ll be accepted in March). But I’ve been told that the phone call comes before the receipt of the letter.
There’s a really good thread (I think it’s stickied) all about likely letters, so if you need more info I would check there.
@IxanyBob, I can imagine. I’m mentally preparing myself to be one of those people whose feelings may need consoling after ivy decisions are released this year. But I still hope those accepted get to celebrate an achievement so worthy of celebration!!
And wow 20%!!? Is your son a current Yalie?
