@fizzy110 Thanks for answering! I do have a green check, so I guess everything is fine. I will wait a couple of more days before doing anything else. Thanks again!
@123whatever no problem! :).
@ilovethecity I’m not entirely sure what I want to major in! I love Yale because I know I’ll be able to explore in my first and second years to discover what I find most interesting. Currently though I’m looking at the History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health major, I think that’s what I’ll end up doing if I am admitted by some miracle.

Hi, I am an international applicant and my academic year finished in December… would it be ok to submit the final school report now, instead of submitting the mid year report (it would be pointless, given that both would show the exact same information)? Or is it better to submit the Mid year report anyway so that they don´t think I skipped it?
@123whatever Yale fully understands that schools have differing calendars. Submit whatever is the latest report. You don’t have to be so nervous about every little detail, you know. Yale is ecstatic that you’ve applied and will ask you if it feels you’re missing anything. It’s not meant to be a minefield where they’re looking for any excuse to reject people and delete their applications.
You’re fine.
@123whatever I think you should go ahead and send it, it would be odd if admissions officers did not realize that all school calendars are not the same.
Hey guys, I have a question about the interviews. During the summer I had an on-campus interview during a summer program at Yale. Does that mean that I will likely not receive an alumni interview, plus the fact that there are not many alumni interviewers available in my area? And I heard that interviews are generally selective and it will definitely be a rejection without one?
@dreamy123, it is NOT the case that not getting an interview will be a rejection, if that’s what you were asking. I can’t count as high as the number of places that has been said, by people who know and have no motive to lie.
If you had an on-campus interview, I assume it was with a senior. My son had one of those, and then later an alum interview.
My son got an email from Yale right after submitting his app offering an “optional” essay he can add about Yale-NUS. He had checked yes for NUS but that was just to consider the options. He is not highly interested in NUS. Would it be advisable to do this optional essay or not? He feels he should since “optional” is not really optional but I don’t want to infer a greater degree of interest in that program than exists. He primarily wants to be at the main campus.
@1203southview - If he is not really interested in Yale NUS, I personally wouldn’t do it, it’s not worth the time. I think the essay is supposed to be for highly interested candidates who felt their common app and Yale supplements did not demonstrate their specific interest in NUS strongly enough.
Definitely not true. I do interviews for Yale. You can be admitted without an interview. Plenty are. FWIW I was admitted without an interview 36 years ago!!
@dreamy123 : the new interview assignment system generally allows for only one interview report to be in your file. Thus your local ASC director won’t even have the option to assign you to one of her/his local volunteers.
I’ve heard that Yale anticipates 2/3 coverage of applicants to interviews this season. Yale never has, nor will now – have any reason to disadvantage those whom are unable to be offered an interview. It simply makes no sense.
Thanks fizzy110!
@123whatever and anyone else - I submitted my Yale app on the 31st and received my Eli account about an hour ago
Hey, guys!
It’s been three weeks since I submitted my Common Application and Yale-specific questions, and still have not received an email with information for setting up an Eli Account. I’m very worried about this. I already emailed the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, but they haven’t replied yet. Anyone else experience this same issue?
@Visionary123 Are you an international? If they handle it by regional admissions office that may explain the discrepancy. I would also double check your spam folders just in case - and then call them if you do not receive a reply to your email in the next 1- 2 days.
Yes I would check with the Admissions office about this because I have already received my email and I applied on the 30th
@fizzy110 Yes, I finally received mine as well! Thanks!!!
