Also what majors are you guys applying for? I’m doing engineering, and I’m hoping that since they’re trying to grow the program I have a higher chance…? Doubt it though
Well I have a midterm review day on Thursday, and then I’m going straight home so I’m not driving when decisions come out. (I live 45 mins away from school yikes) I’ll probably make myself coffee and just try to relax till then…
English! Someone who is really qualified from my school is applying for Engineering though…
I’m a fool and forgot to double check what I put for majors so I didn’t put Cognitive Science even though that’s what I wrote my ‘why this subject’ essay on and what I actually want… Other than that, Linguistics and maybe Chemistry.
i know for a fact ill be rejected! so nervous though
@jengels @margaret1332 I applied as a Cognitive Science major too!
I have been lurking for about four months but I have resisted the urge to post until now. I probably have the lowest GPA and SAT here but those are just numbers so even though I am the longshot of all longshots I still have hopes. impractical hopes at that, but hopes nonetheless. It doesn’t help that everyone in my community (8,000 people on an Island) as well as my family members EXPECT me to get in. They don’t understand the competitive nature of college admissions (probably because most of them didn’t go), anyways, enough with the rambling and good luck to all the applicants!
Applied as a History of Science, Medicine & Public Health major. I really like how you can pick between 7 different concentrations or make your own, but I really wanna do a double major with music as well (which is why I submitted a music supplement too)
I feel like being here only feeds my anxiety about this but I can’t help it
I’m doing international relations and English.
Oh and @nate1991 and @Gh0st3737 my parents have a very tough love sort of thing with me (we’re Russian haha) so my mom is saying those things so I’m not crushed if I don’t get in. But we all know that I’ve worked my butt off for years and that if its not Yale, it’ll be somewhere else great and I’ll continue to work hard.
4 more days I’m so nervous aghhh
In the end, this is undergrad. I intend to go to law school so that’s primarily what’s gonna be looked at. While I fell in love with Yale, going somewhere on a scholarship wouldn’t be terrible either. I’m a realistic optimist, so even though I’m nervous as hell, I know I’ll end up where I was meant to be. Same goes for every one of you! If you don’t get in, keep your head up. The fact that you’re able to apply to Yale and are being considered is monumental in itself. I’ve never come across a smarter group of people than in this thread.
Did anyone consider not telling others that they were applying? The only people that know about me applying are the teachers that did my letters, my counselor, my two best friends, and my parents. It’s nice because no one in my grade is like “did she get into Yale or not” and people won’t automatically look at me as the girl who was rejected from Yale if I don’t get in. I’m relieved because of what I did. If I do get in, it’ll be a major shock to everyone and it’ll be more fun for me in the long run!
For future applicants coming across this thread, I highly recommend doing what I did. ^
@yalehopeful017 that’s actually such a good strategy, if anyone asks in the next days I won’t say anything
I just told people I was applying somewhere in the Ivy League and they can guess where but I won’t confirm anything. It’s really fun to see what people guess! Most have been totally off!
I told many people about me applying to Yale SCEA, but I know I won’t be judged when the expected deferral/rejection comes in.
Like a few on here, I also submitted a music supplement. These same recordings just made it past the preliminary rounds for piano major auditions at USC — so I hope they help me a little bit for Yale. I would like to double major between music and ethics, law, policy…something along those lines.
I did have an interviewer, a Skype call. He was very nice and told me he would give his recommendation for sure. I felt like we connected, and we had nice discussion re: my city vs. New Haven.
Good luck to all!!! Many at my school have already been rejected by Notre Dame and Stanford, so at least there will be no one surprised if Yale doesn’t work for me.
@phsstudent17 so many of my friends have been rejected, the applicant pool must be insane this year
I come from a school very much connected with ND (it’s close by). But I know some who have alumni in the family, and even professors as parents, who aren’t getting in. But, ND last year accepted about 30 from my school - so many.
Stanford is, of course, insane. I applied RD to both ND and Stanford.
I didn’t know rejections were sent out early. Seems odd.
@phsstudent17 no well I meant in for instance UPENN I saw so many people that were very qualified get rejected… it’s quite stressful
