Honestly if you can’t conduct simple research to solve your own question…
Look at the past three Yale SCEA threads and confirm it’s 5pm EST yourself or just trust the people that already have.

Regarding the “reaction video” thing:
May I make one suggestion? Please excuse this as this is definitely a generational thing.
I think it’s gratuitous.
If you’re accepted, you share this your excited extremely unique honor with others – who won’t have it. It seems like bragging to me. I get that your loved ones might enjoy sharing the moment – but at what cost to others? What if gramma shares it on FB? You can youtube lots of them now from previous college applicants.
To my sensibilities, act like you’ve been there before. Be gracious. The reward isn’t a 15 second video. It’s your life afterward. To me it’s like putting up a huge Yale banner in front of your house. It’s kinda of a tool thing to do, IMHO.
Feel free to completely disagree – I’m only sharing my own opinions and sorry if I come across as a grouchy old dude! hahaha
Good luck all.
We videotaped our son (not the one who applied to Yale) opening his ED envelope to share with his mother, who was on a business trip. Private showing. Anything with wider distribution falls prey to T26E4’s objections. Our existences are already over-mediated.
Good luck everyone.
@T26E4 I’m planning on recording mine, but I TOTALLY understand where you’re coming from! The only reason I’m recording mine is because I’ve literally watched EVERY reaction video on youtube/twitter/instagram from ALL the ivies because it just makes me feel so hopeful. Like to be completely honest, if I didn’t watch those reaction videos, I probably wouldn’t have applied because I wouldn’t have had the motivation to the degree that I do now. Seeing other people getting into these schools can definitely be a motivational boost and increase the amount of hope in prospective students! That’s just my view though because I was personally affected by others’ success:)
@T26E4 You just made a very valid point. However, I’d record myself so I would have a personal souvenir of this period of my life. I have the feeling that whatever happens it will only make me stronger and more perseverant. In the case of acceptance, my life would change a lot and I would love to have a video of a moment when I realize this.
Even though I would never share it on YouTube, I totally agree with @DreamforIvy. Those reaction videos, as pointless as they might seem, can really help others to go through their application process and apply to some reach schools. I have also seen many videos as it makes me really happy to see how someone’s life can completely change in a second.
Im trying to prevent the anxiety by rationalizing my chances. Yale is a reach for me, i know that. However its a reach for almost everyone applying. Know that more kids are qualified then Yale can accept.
So please sleep tonight and know no matter what education is an equalizer. If you get denied, LET IT MOTIVATE YOU. Be a person who isnt defined by their university. Saying that ive come to terms with the massive chance of rejection.
Know that if you are passionate about your field then everything will be okay.
Yale is a dream for me…and i want it to be a reality like everyone else in this thread. Dreams are great but the truth is everyone who applied has a purpose and that purpose is not likely to be “i attended yale”
Okay now ill go back to Stalking this thread and being a hypocrite…
Oh and congratz to everyone who has been accepted into college already…ITS AN EXCITING TIME! =D>
@elay1202 You may be right, but look how creative you are, making your handle 2021Yale backwards. No doubt you will end up somewhere fabulous.
Less than 24 hrs to go everyone! Two of my best friends just got into Dartmouth and the other got into Brown. Makes me real happy and nervous at the same time
Best of luck tomorrow everyone!
Hey guys! Just wanted to say best of luck to everyone, because I know if you all are as nervous as I am, then you need the good luck!
Thx! I’m glad you noticed this!
I know that a lot of us were probably told by those around us that they are “sure we will get in,” or something along those lines. What I’ve realized is that this is something that would be more accurate to say:
No matter what happens, no matter what the decision is, you still are intelligent and a wonderful human being. Don’t let a decision define you. Take whatever the decision is and use it to make yourself stronger.
Good luck everyone.
I don’t see the harm in documenting a reaction to getting in/getting rejected/getting deferred. To post on social medi? eh. But to keep on tape, or cd, or mp4, or whatever else there is could be important. You never know when your future grandkids will want to see what you were like in their shoes. Or maybe you’ll want to rewatch at a time you’re sad and want to see what you’ve overcome. Coming from a family (father?) obsessed with hoarding pictures and keepsakes of moments, what seems excessive in the moment can become a fond memento years later.
@collegewhatisthat @arizonateen so well said you guys! good luck to everyone here from the bottom of my heart even if you dont get into yale, come April i wanna see where you end up anyways <3
Omg guys im now a junior member I feel so cool and part of the gang
But question: does anyone know if right when you log in you see the admissions or rejection or deferral letter? or if there is a step in between where I click “view decision”? I dont wanna log in and then expect to have more buttons to click and WHAM look at that rejection letter i wasnt ready to see yet.
@nate1991 I think the portal will show an “update to your application” and you have to click on it to get your decision.
@colleges321
I’m gonna record it.
Hi! Does anyone know what time the decisions are out by in the West Coast? Best of luck to everyone, btw.
I believe it’s 5 PM eastern, so 2 PM west coast?
