@HenryFeddersen I’m actually applying from Southeast Asia
For IDOC is it required to upload the forms that say the student doesn’t file taxes… or can I just upload my parent’s taxes and be done with it.
Just the forms you have. If you have your own 1099, but no 1040, just upload the 1099. Of course, include your parents’ W2s, 1099s, and 1040. In other words, “be done with it.”
I submitted my Yale application about a little over a week ago, but the things my guidance counselor has to send in have not been sent yet. Will Yale only call me for an interview after all those materials are in?
goooood luck everyone!
Hey everyone! im applying Yale SCEA 2021 from the middle east! is anyone else having trouble answering the supplementals x.x, i know i only have a few days so im sort of freaking out
@saadthekhan If you’re going to end up with a rushed supplement answer, I HIGHLY suggest that you not submit SCEA. A rushed essay screams “reject me”
@saadthekhan ahahahh freaking out about the engineering essay…
For the “You are teaching a Yale course. What is it called?” question, did you guys make up a course? Or did you’ll pick a course already being taught at Yale?
@waitsforgodot I made up my own course.
My daughter hit submit on her Yale SCEA app today. She rubbed Woolsey’s toe when we were there so maybe she will get lucky. Boola Boola!
@swim1128 I think so. I submitted my application almost a week before my guidance counselor sent the last of my materials in, and I didn’t get contacted for an interview until the day after they were sent in.
@margaret1332 okay thanks!
I do interviews. Just got a notice today to be on the look out for interviewees since applications are starting to come in. It is really up to the interviewer how and when they contact you. Remember, we are regular people with regular lives, jobs and families. We try to respond within a few days after getting the names. But never fear. We always manage to get them done before they are due.
Some interviewers will email, others I will call. But, having a 20 year old, I know you all don’t answer your phone for numbers you don’t know. My advice over the next few weeks is to check the email address you gave Yale, including your SPAM folder and answer all calls that come over your phone (or at least check for messages). Good luck to all of you.
So my teacher faxed in a revised recommendation letter, and I think Yale filed it as a different rec letter. The student portal says my 2nd teacher recommendation was sent in. Should I be worried? Maybe contact the AO again and ask if they have two LOR for the same teacher and to throw the other one out?
@hhjjlala I think once they compile the file, it’ll be pretty evident that one supersedes the other. I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s not a complex or puzzling situation you describe that warrants your attention. If Yale does have a question, they’ll contact the letter writer. You’re fine.
If I live in a rural area about two hours from the nearest big city, will an alum even contact me? I’d be willing to drive there, as I have for a different interview (that I signed up for). I submitted my SCEA application on Sep 22nd.
It’s possible you may be contacted for a virtual interview. I would NOT advise anyone drive 2 hours to a Yale interview.
People are routinely admitted w/o ever having an interview.
My son, who will be applying by next Tuesday’s SCEA deadline, went up to New Haven for an interview this summer. I assume that he will not hear from an alum interviewer?
@CT1417, I assume your son had an interview with a rising senior student. In the past, they sometimes also had alumni interviews in those cases (e.g., DS had both), but from what I understand, now you get one or the other.
