Hi guys! Now that we all have our Yale applications in, I'm just curious to see how all of you approached the short takes portion of the app. Did you guys stick to the 25 word limit? Did you use complete sentences? The short takes were easily my favorite app, and I had fun editing them down to 25 words each. I just want to know what you guys did.

Congrats on submitting your applications and a happy new year!

well you know i wanted my short takes to show my personality so they were a little bit quirky. it was probably my favorite part of my application. yeah mine were also 2-3 sentences.

I didn’t really use complete sentences, I listed out things for the free afternoon one. What did you all say for the change your mind one? I said gluten free pancakes were actually pretty delicious.

hahaha, I actually wrote about broccoli for the change your mind one. I started out with the bias my inner teenager had towards them, but then I actually tried broccoli and I liked it, so that’s what I changed my mind about!

I exhausted the character limit on all of them, but I didn’t pay attention to the 25-word limit. I can hardly imagine the ADCOM will be sitting there, scrutinizing each app with a magnifying class, haha. I’m curious as to what you all wrote for the one asking which moment in history would you witness? That one was my favorite

Yeah, I liked that one too. I wrote about watching the launch of Sputnik, experiencing the nervous energy present at the beginning of the space race. What about you?

I used complete sentences for all of them, but only one answer was more than one sentence. I stuck to the 175 characters rather than the 25 words, but the most I had was 27.
