Hi CC!
Has anybody done the Yale short takes on the CommonApp? Do they really mean 50 characters for those answers because that’s maybe 10 words? The last couple of years I’ve seen them be 50 word limits, not 50 characters…
Thanks :)>-

I think it’s best to believe that yes, they do mean 50 characters. You won’t be able to type into the box after that. Since the questions don’t require complete sentences, I think it’s fine.
@yaledreamer97 Thanks! That’s what I figured, but I was just wanting to make sure… :)>-
Yes it’s fifty characters. It’s a test of conciseness. IMHO as a long time Yale recruiter, I think it’s garbage.
No problem! We’re all in this together, right?
@T26E4 That’s interesting insight. In my opinion, this year’s short takes are a little bit dull.
@yaledreamer97 I agree! I was really disappointed tbh
@mytosies I tried to get a little creative with them but it was hard to reveal anything interesting about myself and qualities not apparent from the rest of my application. Oh well! Just have to nail the full essay, I suppose!
Yeah, I’m not sure how I could truly convey myself in 50 characters…I guess they really wanted to spotlight the essay this year.
