Yale, Stanford or MIT? Please help me decide

Hi Everyone,

I'm having trouble deciding between these 3 schools, and I'd love input from students who know or have experienced the places well. I have visited all of them and liked the campus and students, but no school stood out, for me at least, so significantly that I could make a decision on it. I'm thinking about doing pre-med, with a major in something like molecular biology.

Please help!

I'd choose Yale

MIT MIT MIT!! :] haha

any explanations guys?? ahaha

just personal preference because I do think Yale is great and offers a rewarding undergrad experience! Based on what you want to major in I don't think you could go wrong with either of your choices.

^ also, Yale's residential college system is awesome. :)

yale (10 char)

Yale. I know three people who go/have gone there, and they all love it. The academics are amazing, the campus is gorgeous, the residential system is great.

^x2 yale for sure

i'm noticing a trend
I have to say Yale too, but Stanford is enticing.

Personally, I'd say Stanford, MIT, then Yale. But I'm not going to apply to the last, and I am to the first two, so obviously I'm unfairly biased.

Since you applied to MIT, I assume that you're going to major in engineering or the sciences? If that's the case, I stick with what I said. MIT's only marginally better than Stanford at Engineering, but Stanford, IMO, based on my personal research, is a better overall school.

If you're not planning on engineering or science (or business, I totally forgot how strong MIT's business school is), I'd say you're pretty safe at either of the other two, but again, I personally prefer Stanford.

Not to madden any of the many Yale fans on CC, though... ;)

stanford has great research
how are the financial aid packges?

I'm getting essentially the same from all 3 school,s which makes the decision even harder. Many of you have promoted yale, but, from a completely shallow point of view, does it hold as much prestige as the other two?

bump. any other opinions?

Yale definitely holds as much prestige as the other two--even more than the other two for some people. Good luck on your decision!

MIT is typically considered a little too intense for premeds. If you were intent on studying quantitative Economics, Engineering or a hard science, I would have recommend MIT, but not for pre-med.

In your case, I would go with either Stanford or Yale. Personally, I think Stanford provides a more complete undergraduate experience.

Alexandre aren't you a stanford alumi?
I would go with stanford hands down

I wish! I was not brilliant enough to get into the likes of MIT, Stanford or Yale. I attended Michigan. But several of my good friends attended Stanford and MIT, so I am familiar with both. Although I am not as familiar with Yale, I visted New Haven several times and did not like it.

I would say, Yale, MIT, then Stanford.

Yale is ur best bet... considering their medical library is amazing, and quite a few world renowned surgeons taught there... only a few though... but better than Stanford and MIT in that sense.. i feel stanford and MIT are way to engineering based and are paving the way to save the world in an engineering perspective.... Yale is considered to be the more "well-rounded"... implementing themselves in the medical community, law community, and others... If you are purely pre-med, Yale- out of those 3 schools- could be the best decision of your life.
