There’s a new summer astrophysics research and enrichment program at Yale starting next summer: http://yspa.yale.edu.
It’s a 2 week online + 4 weeks on campus program that involves working on an astrophysics research program at the Yale campus observatory. In some ways it looks similar to Summer Science Program (and in 2016 they are studying asteroids, although the research projects changes from year to year).
Full tuition (including academic tuition, room and board, field trips, projects costs, instructional materials, computer fees, etc., but not including travel to and from the program, health insurance, or incidental expenses) for 2016 is $4650.
@Nerdyparent, Yeah, well… they do offer financial aid if you get accepted. It’s less expensive than Yale Summer Session or Yale Young Global Scholars (of course it’s more than RSI or TASP, which have corporate sponsors and are free). It’s about the same cost as SSP.
I also got accepted to YSPA, as an international student. I have also applied for financial aid and still haven’t got any response. Does anyone know when they will e-mail us regarding the FA?
I’m not really sure but I suppose YSPA puts a greater emphasis on programming than SSP? (only what I’ve learned from the websites tho)
I have decided to attend YSPA as an intl student The program is right up to my alley.
If you are attending too maybe we can get to know each other beforehand
@EvatheWalker That seems to be the main curriculum difference, but it’s not entirely clear… If someone makes a Facebook group for admits, that could be helpful!
