So, for the Yale essay where it's like "tell us something we couldn't find out from the rest of your application. Limit it to 500 words or less" I'm kind of stumped. So I was thinking, maybe I could just use one of my stanford supplemental essays and just copy and paste it into it? It'd either be the "intellectual vitality" essay, or a tweaked version of my "letter to a roommate" essay. It's not like this is plagiarism or cheating or anything, since they're still my own essays. I'm just wondering if these essays/topics "fit" into the Yale supplement well. Yale didn't really give us any guidelines and basically said to write about whatever.
Has anyone else (perhaps any SCEAers?) done something similar? Did you get in?

So yeah, any thoughts?

write about whatever you want... just make yourself unique

Your intellectual vitality essay will probably work best here.

I have a quick question too. My Yale Supp essay focused on the "unspoken qualities" of my personality. The only problem is that is also what my Common App essay focused on. While some of the qualities mentioned were different, I realized after I submitted my application that I may have even repeated two phrases. How big of a deal is it if my Yale Supp is very similar to my Common App essay? Really nervous about this. :(

its probably not the best because they're similar in some ways, but dont sweat it too much. as long as they're different in some way it should be okay

@bengaltiger i think the roommate one would be better because im pretty sure they read tons of essays about students and their amazing academic accomplishments and such so something that doesnt have to do with intellect should be refreshing for them.
