Yale supplementary essay

I once again find myself wondering about essay lengths. ;-)
It seems that the average essay length is about 600-700 words. However, the additional essay for Yale says not to exceed 500 words. Not that I'm purposely trying to break rules, of course, but would it be terrible to have a 600 word essay? There is absolutely no way I can shorten it any more that that.....

generally, the rule is length + 10%, which would set your limit at 550. it’s usually best not to exceed the limit that the rule gives you in any given case. are you sure you can’t cut out 50 words?

yep, absolutely sure. I already cut out over 200 words and there is nothing left to cut out. But I decided to send it anyway, so fingers crossed ;-)
