Yale Theater

Okay, I just need some info. on the undergraduate studies for theater at Yale

I really want to apply for early action to Yale and then audition (you have to audition, right?) for the BA in Theater
but since Yale is a single-choice early action school, that means...if I get in I have to go there. But applying and getting in doesn't mean I will get into the theater program...so, I was just wondering if anyone knows if you don't get into the theater program could you still take classes? I mean, I would think so...but I just want to make sure!!

thanks :D

You are confused about two important things.

ONE:
There is NO audition for the BA at Yale for theater. You don’t even declare your major at Yale upon entering.

TWO:
Early Action is NOT the same as Early Decision. With Early Decision, if admitted, you are committed to attend. But for Early Action, you find out early (Dec. 15 and apply by Nov. 1) but are NOT signing a binding contract to attend and may apply to other schools for Regular Decision and make up your mind by May 1 where to enroll. Single Choice Early Action is the same as Early Action but simply means you can only apply EA to one school. But you are not committing to attend if accepted. Yale has Single Choice Early Action and doesn’t offer an Early Decision (binding) option.

You do not get “INTO” the theater program at Yale if accepted. You are accepted to Yale and can major in anything. There is no acceptance into the undergraduate program itself.

soozievt is right in that there is no audition prior to getting into Yale, however, many of the non-intro classes require auditions or professor permission.
