Yale to INCREASE UG Size to 6,000!

what do you propose to do? Ask the cities of Cambridge or New Haven or Manhattan or Philadelphia to cede 100s of acres? "Let's tear down these rows of homes or businesses or parks and give it to these Ivies"

Believe it or not, these universities are one piece of a larger community which has as much right to affordable spaces as any other institution. The reason why Y is able to expand is that they are almost spending 1/4 of a BILLION dollars JUST to prepare existing Yale owned space to be able to be the building site.

When will it (Yes, the 6000 size thingi!) OFFICIALLY takes effect?

I don't think they should increase their size.

I can't see a single negative thing about this.

The sense of entitlement dripping from this post is astounding.

Em, did somebody read my post?

The projected opening for the new residential colleges is 2013.

^ wow, that will be so useful to us -_-

It's useful to the helpful alums who have young kids (mine is eleven -- HS graduating in '15) LOL.

too late for me :(

Rice is ahead of the game :). They are also adding two new residential colleges to open in fall 2009, I believe.

Well that's just plain annoying. While Yale is no small university, I always thought it's undergrad size was a pleasant advantage. I imagine you can see the same people on a regular basis but still not memorize the yearbook.

Maybe I'm just bitter because I'm a high school freshman, and not only would this not help me a jot (class of '11) but it'll happen smack in the middle of my undergrad education. Of course, Yale has a 96% (or whatever) chance of not allowing me to even be a Bulldog annoyed by the construction.

It is nice to see that they're just as jaded as everyone else on this forum by the genius' they've rejected, though.

glass: there's been construction on campus continually for years. All twelve colleges have been under renovation for about a dozen years. The big RC project is frankly out of the way of most current students' everyday routine.

My Sr year we had workers singing at the top of their lungs at 7AM working on our roof -- just to bug us I think. Wake up to out of tune songs from "Oklahoma!" Funny that I remember things like that.

Last time I was in New Haven, my college was under lock due to its being renovated (Jonathan Edwards). The fact is Yale is a dynamic place and will continue to be for many years to come. That's a good think, IMHO.

Hey, I'm JE '11. JE's under renovations over the summer, and will be done in time for the start of my sophomore year.

JE SUX!
