Hmm...probably won't get many responses, but interested anyways. Anybody know of anyone that successfully transferred into Yale from a CC? And if anyone has transferred into Yale from any university in the past, I'd be interested in knowing what kind of applicant you were.

There were a few people who transfered to Yale from CC in past year. But now, they seem to be looking for students who come from 4-year colleges. It's not easy getting into Yale or any top colleges these days. The emhasis is placed recruiting HS seniors for their Freshman class. Therefore, transfers take a back seat when it comes to those places.

brand, are you applying to 20 schools or something? lol i see you in every post regarding the top 20 schools :-

nah i've narrowed my list down to 11...it's a good list. I was just wondering about Yale...very good chance I won't apply there.

As for my list, yeah most all are top 30 universities or LACs, but the way I see it, I've got UT in the bag, and for the money, the only colleges that are really worth 40k a year compared to UTs 15k a year are the top colleges that I really like.

damn foo! narrow your list to 5, 11 is so much dough!

yeah I know...sadly I cannot narrow my list anymore. And I've never actually applied to any colleges, so this is kind of like senior year for me and I don't want to miss out on any opportunities.

I'm only applying to 5:

Stanford - 100% Reach but just because i can brag about applying to Stanford :P
UC Berkeley - 60% Reach/40% Match
UCLA - 30/70
USC - 30/70
One more School for Safety - 0/100

^ thats a good application list

Brand, you are not missing out on any "opportunities" in fact, i think you are wasting space for other transfer students who want to apply and WANT to go to the school. What i see in your situation is being somewhat "wishy washy" on what school you want to attend. Im not trying to put you down, so dont take it as im being offensive or try to be defensive, but i think that you dont really know where you want to go. All i see is that you are just searching for the best university in the country; ex: the ivys. I would recommend you take those school matching questionaire or just plan a list of things you want in a university, for example, i wanted to be in a suburban campus. Also, list what schools you think you will get in. Apply to the school you want most like i see above for DHL3, his #1 choice is obviously stanford; then pick a school of where you will want to go if you dont get into the first choice and then pick a few matches and 1 safety and thats basically your top list of 5. Please, if you are applying to more than 5 schools, think of what you are doing for other transfers... Assuming you apply to harvard and also yale; you are accepted by harvard, you just ruined the chances for the other 10 schools you applied to for another applicant!

dhl3, ha ha, you can brag about getting rejected from stanford?
it's nothing to be proud of.... lol

LOL seriously

but still. I become a Stanford Applicant.
That's something.

mojojo - haha you really shouldn't worry about that...i'm applying from a community college. Were I applying from a highly regarded university, then yes I would limit my choices to 3 at most because I'd be pretty confident that I'd be admitted. You speak as if I will be admitted to all of those schools and will take a spot at each school! I hope you're right, but that is HIGHLY HIGHLY doubtful. And I have researched all of the schools on my list and like them for reasons besides prestige. In fact, I only have 1 school on my list in the top 10, and only several are in the top 20. So, yeah, I've done what you've suggested and molded my list accordingly. Now that I've got the final thing done, I realize it's very unique and have never seen a list like it. But thanks for the advice.

yeah, i bet it is really something to have $75 to waste ;)

lol newby my parents are making me pay for all my apps...which is some great motivation to cut down my school list. I'm saving up for them right now, and at about $70/app it's going to be A LOT OF MONEY. But it'll be worth it. It's a whole lot cheaper than paying for a round-trip to X city, paying for a hotel, and then visiting each school I'm interested in.

brad, i think newby's post was directed toward me...

its brandon you whore...

j/k :)

easy killer :)

brand, with a gpa of 4.0, u can practically get accepted anywhere, even for LAC, so i still think u will get accepted to most if not all the schools your going to apply and then someone with a lower gpa probably will feel bad after they get their rejection lol

AHHHH you are so crazy mojojo I hope the world works out that way...but after viewing the transfer decision threads for various ppl on College Confidential and seeing 3.9s from top universities get rejected, along with several 4.0s from CC, I am not so confident.

If I do get in everywhere, I will pay you $10. Happy?

Ivies want to recruit more HS Seniors for tuition purposes. They make more money from people there for four years instead of two years. (This is what my counselor told me)
