Exciting times. I wanted to find others in the waiting boat… this week is going to be the longest (and shortest) of my life I think. Graduating with an AS from my CC - nervously awaiting with many of my favorite faculty for the decision later this week. If anyone wants to chat, let me know! I’m usually an introvert, but this is such a weird experience there are only a few of you going through the same thing right now who understand, I thought it would be fun to “meet” you online - and HOPEFULLY in CT soon!
Hello!
I am also an introvert . Feel free to DM me:)
Just curious, if you all get in, do you have any thoughts on what you’ll do for housing? In our student forum we were told that graduate housing was “VERY limited”. Anyone thinking they would look for a roommate?
Do you already have an alert saying there is a package on its way to you?
I am! If I can’t get into grad housing, I’m looking for roommates for one of the historic Victorian-ish houses… I like unique stuff, and I’m going for as much of the “Harry Potter -esque Vibe” as possible. (haha). I remember the book releases, we are a different breed of HP fan But yes, I am definitely open to different housing options.
How is everyone doing this week?
Just waiting for this rejection so I can move on with my life.
Think everyone who got the second interview was automatically qualified for a place within the program. Now I think is just getting your official folder. I guess. (let me know if I am wrong)
Don’t mean to crush that hope but I don’t think that’s the case. Everyone with a second interview was invited to the student forum, which had two sessions. I know one of the sessions had 70 ish people in it, and from last year’s data Yale admitted 15 transfer students (normal + Eli Whitney combined).
Hi @Bob_gray where are you getting your info from? Based on intel from a EWSP alum it was closer to 30 students for the cohort last year. This may have included transfers too.
From a few different sources, the number of people admitted I got from: University Transfer Rates 2021-2022 - Transfer Goat
I personally wouldn’t go off of these numbers because Yale has two separate programs and that chart doesn’t specify which program they are referring to. Chances are they are not factoring in EWSP.
They say that they’re accounting for normal transfer students as well EWSP. From their website: “It’s important to keep in mind that the Yale transfer acceptance rates include both regular transfer students and students accepted through the Eli Whitney Students Program.”
Ohh I see what you’re saying @Bob_Gray
This is an article from Yale News regarding the EWSP from last year. It states 30 were accepted out of 309 applicants and 23 ultimately decided to matriculate. Yale welcomes largest-ever cohort of Eli Whitney students - Yale Daily News
I was iffy about the source from Transfer Goat since it’s a business and they may skew their numbers slightly in the name of making things seems harder and therefore earn themselves more business. I would personally go off of the stats directly from Yale. Either way, good luck to everyone, we should be hearing back within the next couple of days!!
That is slightly better, but no where near the number that would be needed to guarantee everyone with a second interview a spot (what prompted my original comment). Glad you did some digging though, good luck.
@Bob_Gray Oh yes, definitely does not guarantee everyone with an interview a spot. However, apparently attendees of both sessions total 60ish. So it’s most like 40-50% at this point. Not bad chances I’d say! I’m keeping my fingers crossed
Some people seem to have noticed the withdraw button on their application portal has disappeared.
@Bob_Gray Is there any info from previous years if it means anything? My button is still there…
I haven’t seen anything specific. There’s lots of admissions portal astrology all over the internet.
Hope not, because mine is too.
