Yale transfer thread--fall 2012

I didn't see one of these, but I am new to the site so please point out if I missed it!

Who is applying/has applied for transfer to Yale?

Discuss!!!

I did just now!!!

I guess the Yale transfer 2012 thread isn’t as active as the 2011 one :(

Maybe you should rename it as OFFICIAL or something!

I’ve also applied to transfer, so there at least a few of us on CC. We can only hope that the lack of participation on this thread is representative of a larger lack in transfer applications to Yale!

There are other Y transfer applicants on CC who post on the Transfer Students forum, although there is not yet an official Y thread there yet.

I applied. Haven’t gotten any response from them that they received my app but it says that they downloaded it on the common app website and ive sent in all of my forms. Have you guys gotten anything?

Yale Transfer admission stats for fall term:
Applied: 1,072
Admitted: 29 (2.7%)
Enrolled: 22

@something12345, Yale doesn’t give out Eli accounts for transfer students. In fact, they only contact us if something is missing (they will do this via email/phone later in March/April if this is the case).

Checking last year’s transfer thread, it seems Yale didn’t inform applicants of a response date. Rather, some accepted students found out via e-mail at odd times a day or two before others got their rejections… It makes the process even worse for those of us anxiously waiting.

Jamie,
The information you give is about par for the course, and hopefully not news to anyone applying as a transfer to Y.

I applied to transfer too! Yale has always always always been my dream school… good luck everyone :)

Ooh ok, thanks a lot MJG678.

Applying… yay for the long wait.

Hello!

I applied for transfer to Yale also ^^; I’m extremely nervous!

Good luck to everyone!

soo is anyone else really anxious for their decision from Yale, as well as from other schools?

add me to the list!
@mjg678 I am really nervous… especially if what you said about no set date for decisions is true

Hey all, anyone know if it is easier to transfer from another Ivy to Yale? I am at a lower tier Ivy with 4.0 GPA…

@terryjordanwhs I too am from a “lower tier” Ivy, even though I hate when people call it that… but I think it’s very difficult to transfer into Yale at all because they accept so few transfers a year. A 4.0 is a great start, but what they care about the most is your reason for wanting to transfer (properly delineated in your essays).

wow, at least you guys are lucky enough to come from other ivies, I feel hopeless despite my best efforts because I go to a state school that isn’t that well known

Don’t worry! It’s a crapshoot for all of us.
