Went down from 81 to 66. Not sure if this is an indication of the number of SCEA admits this year.
Good luck to everyone.
That’s a significant drop in QB admits…
The YDN article says this year, there are 5,613 Quest Bridge finalists.
I found another article online which says there were 6,312 finalists last year.
It would be very hard to draw any conclusion about the number of SCEA admits at Yale this year based on this one data point. Better wait for two more weeks and hope for best outcome. Take care.
Not sure how reliable this is but apparently someone in Ontario got an interview (based on reddit)
How would Academic Index be calculated now that SAT scores are optional?
Even for regular admission - how would Yale normalize an applicant when Score submission is optional? It has become more ambiguous. One that can be fluidly argued in a court of law. Thoughts?
What I have read - don’t recall where - is that Yale scores TO against a score of 25 (5 categories) vs 30 for candidates with scores (6 categories) and then the scores are normalized as %.
That seems fair, I guess - if you submit one less item each of the ones you did submit count for a little more.
how’s everyone passing their time until decisions?? i legit can’t concentrate properly on my other supplements bcos of the anxiety…
enjoying high school, not thinking about it until decision day tbh
lowkey you got it, don’t let this app ruin ur others. i’m sure you’ll do great !
Same, except I just have no motivation to write them I’ve been joking to a friend that they should just “Tell me I’m deferred now” so that I can get that switch in my head finally turned.
Anyways, I’ve thankfully had lots of really intense classes and ECs going on, so they’re helping distract me.
the way my ADHD still gets me thinking… my brain auto-reverts to Yale stuff at times, but you know that I got over my Yale fever.
I don’t think Yale uses such an index or scoring system. This [index] is just what someone/some organization has calculated.
I attended an info session in New Haven before Covid, and admissions said they just need to be convinced the applicant will be able to keep up academically at the school. They never said students are ranked according to their standardized score values.
Furthermore, if you look at Yale’s Common Data Set, you see in Section C that “Standardized Test Scores” are only “Considered.” There are other factors that are more important for admissions.
So don’t spend too much time analyzing test scores (unless you are a lawyer arguing in court).
Good luck to all and have a Wonderful Holiday.
If you will leave home for college, spend more time with your loved ones and your family.
My FA Checklist updated and now has a missing FAFSA option. I’m an international student, so it seems kind of strange that they would ask for FAFSA. Is this a normal error? Or should I do anything about it?
You can call/email the FA office to clarify, but it could also mean that FA office is looking at your application, which is a good sign. Good luck.
Called them, they said there’s “nothing to worry about, as long as you have submitted the CSS profile. You are perfectly fine”…
Yale is need blind, which means the admissions office and FA department work in parallel. FA office doesn’t look at your application - only your financial docs, and them reaching out doesn’t imply anything regarding admissions.
Yes, but @Parent-in-Georgia 's comment, I think, reflects what many admitted students have said during the years, which is they have been contacted/updated by the FA office right before admission decisions. I understand this is based on nothing, though, I was just asking to make sure what I could do
What many admitted students over the years should have said in order to be accurate is “The plural of anecdote is not data” and “Correlation does not imply causation.”
Regardless, as noted, there is nothing you need to do with FAFSA.

which is what I said! But I was assuming his comment was based on this.
