just to help the future stats and ec-obsessed people. i got accepted without interview, and you can check my profile for the deets.

iā€™m so proud of everyone. even applying shows great promise, and your decision should not affect your own self-perception.

7/10 English Teacher ā†’ kinda mid, they will write well about me but nothing insanely good 8/10 Counselor ā†’ probably pretty good, we talk about sports a lot and he seems to like me
10/10 Interview, reached out to me after to ask if I had anything else to add. Literally told me they would write good things about me.

Can someone briefly explain to me what this SID is everybody is talking about? Thanks

Yale reached out to some students for more financial aid documents a while back and to fill those out, it required an SID or student ID which is typically only for matriculated students. Either Yale provided the SID, or I think some students reached out themselves to get it.

Sorry to hear. You have a great profile and see no reason why/how. Hang in there. I am sure you will have better luck with other Ivys. Stay strong!

thank you so much! that means a lot! fingers crossed for RD!!!

I think that those who were deferred should not lose hope, actually, as the outright rejection rate was very high (62 or 67% I think?)ā€¦

Canadian too, right? Way to represent. :canada:

No FA email or SID # here even though weā€™re apparently missing something, I see now; and for the guy asking about stats, I think for sure you probably need to be within a certain ā€œrangeā€, but stats are likely only part of the picture. Son is ranked 2/190, 1540 SAT (1x), 2 APs (school offers 3), 4.0 unweighted, lots of ECs, national level musician. I truly think itā€™s likely his reference letters and essays, plus the music, were the major factors. Did have an interview which lasted 29 minutes.

Hi, my son got accepted and I wanted to share some information which may be relevant for future applicants:
(1) He is an international applicant (from Turkey)
(2) He attends to a small private school and is top of his class with 4.0 GPA.
(3) He had 5 APs in his junior year (AP bio, AP World History, AP Literature, AP Calculus, AP Chemistry). All 5s.
(4) His ECs are strong but no sports.
(5) He did not receive an interview request until Dec 7. The interviewer wanted to talk to him the next day of his email.
(6) We applied for financial aid but did not receive an email from YALE requesting additional information. So no email with SID.
I hope this helps and good luck to you all! You are all awesome and will do great!
