Yale University Early Action for Fall 2023 Admission

Yale does not admit by major, but like all selective colleges, looks for a balance of interests in the admitted class. To some extent, if you are very ā€œSTEMyā€, you will be compared against other STEMy types, same is true for Humanities types. There are also a large number of highly qualified ā€œroundā€ candidates/admitted students, who could end up majoring in just about anything. The best strategy is to be true in your strengths and interests and not try to ā€œgameā€ what you think Yale (or any highly selective) wants.

Yes I get the idea. Being genuine throughout!

Can someone lead me to the regional admissions officers? I canā€™t seem to find an email?
Thank you!

They donā€™t want you to email. They want you to use the contact form or the portal

Hey, I had a quick questionā€¦ I got deferred in December and I realized that some of the links that I put in my application were not working. So, I sent like 3-4 updates of PDF documents of the working links. Would updating my application this many times hurt my chances. The updates just contain links and donā€™t have much reading for the officers to do. Iā€™m not sure

That was a waste of an update. AOā€™s are unlikely to click links

would this hurt my chances or would they just ignore it

I doubt that it will hurt by itself. If you continue to send updates, that will not help. They donā€™t need or want up-to-the-minute updates.

The most effective thing you can do is to prepare a short easy to read summary (bullet points may be more effective than paragraphs) that outline recent accomplishments that were not in your original app. Think like you are an AO with more than a thousand RD applications to first read plus any deferrals that are assigned. You want something that you can easily sort into a ā€œfurther considerationā€ or not pile at a glance.

Per Yaleā€™s website I think we are allowed 1 update so I think your update is acceptable if it was all on one page. Whether they click the links not sure.

they were separate updatesā€¦

Itā€™s probably fine.

Hi- my daughter was deferred and sent in her LOCI last week as a pdf upload. We received the email that they got the LOCI but on her portal the attached pdf is not showing. According the the portal, all materials submitted should show on the portal so a bit concerned why the pdf is not showing as attached or even there. Any advise would really be helpful.
thanks!

Iā€™ve seen other people describe the same thing on other forums. I think as long as she got the email, itā€™s fine.

I havenā€™t been on this thread in a while. D got deferred and now weā€™re back in the game now. So, we had this SID theory in the SCEA round and we sorta proved that SID theory is true - that anyone who was assigned a SID by the FA office, got in. That was fun.

  1. Is there anyone from the SCEA round who was assigned a SID from FA, but didnā€™t get in?
  2. Do all SIDs start with 92xxxxxxx (for Fall 2023 SCEA applicants)?
