Yale University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

Did you get an interview yet?

Dang I know I shouldn’t get my hopes up but I’m still happy that I got an interview… is it common for people to get rejected first round after an interview? I feel like I haven’t seen anyone rejected first round w/ interview everyone is either deferred or accepted

I have seen people get rejected after an interview… I’m not sure why since why would they offer a reject an interview?

I think this ā€œfirst roundā€ where kids are eliminated before the app even gets to an Area Admissions Officer is new to last year. That’s what I gleaned from the podcast anyway.
So examples from pre-2022 may not be relevant…

hmmm i meant like, rejected REA after an interview but i see… i’m like really surprised to pass the first round considering i’m not top 10% of class and 97% of yale’s 2027 class is top 10%

Also ahhhh I am literally so nervous! Being west coast kid means I could literally check the portal for REA results while I’m sitting in my 6th period class…

How do you know if they started meeting yet? I feel like they just have at least started meeting.

Nope, and not expecting one. If we’re going off additional info needed → interview, I think that I pretty much gave AOs a clear picture of my profile and personality in my essays. I don’t see an interview filling too many gaps aside from a vibe check.

Okay. Me too! I really tried to show who I was to them. I also received an Sid

Pure speculation, but they seemed to talk fondly about more like 30000 applications, which would require around a 40% cull. I also suspect it could be even deeper for ā€œunhookedā€ applicants, less among hooked applicants.

But that would be overall. Likely less in REA, between a higher percentage of hooked applicants and also perhaps a pool that generally skewed more qualified.

I wouldn’t look too much into it as I surveyed those on reddit (I am aware that they are a very competitive group though so skewed data + volunteer response bias), and 60%+ have already received interview invitations

It seems that decisions are being released on the 14th this year??

Yes that date has been published for a while

It’s been on that Thursday for the last several years.

Does anyone know if the committee started meeting yet?

Someone in the QuestBridge reddit said that they’re done with QB decisions, so I assume they’ve started meeting for early already.

Still didn’t get the invite. I think this is a bad sign.

Nothing here also, the other kid we know at my son’s school didn’t get one either. Its a competitive high school, top 20 nationally. Thankfully he’s busy on his UC apps now so not much time to think about anything else.

Just finished my interview - lasted 90 minutes and the interviewer was extremely friendly and polite. Now all that’s left is to wait
