Yale University

Hi I was wondering what the average GPA and SAT scores are for those who are accepted to Yale. What are the schools highlights? Just some general knowledge would be great. Thanks!

Acceptance rate: 9%
Early action acceptance rate: N/A
Top 10% of high school class: 97%
SAT I score (median): 2080-2370
ACT score (median): 30-34

Here is a link to where I found this. They also have more stats here including general information, admission info, financial aid info, and student body statistics. But a simple google search and a visit to their website could answer many more of your questions.

[Yale University | Admissions Facts and Statistics](http://www.admissionsconsultants.com/college/yale.asp)

Yale has EA. They accepted like 13.6% this year

I tried to edit it but I didn’t do it soon enough. It just says N/A because the site doesn’t have the statistics for the early admission acceptance rate, not necessarily saying that Yale doesn’t have EA. Just clarifying.

ohhh…gotcha

you’ve just added up with middle 50% of each section, the overall middle 50% of sat scores for Yale will be a tighter range, perhaps like 2140-2320.

Thanks for the quick reply and great website for reference. In general… would you say the Yale is a liberal arts school? Or is it geared more towards another aspect? I am thinking of doing premed… would Yale be a good school for that?

If you can get in, yes. I’d have a back-up plan cause even if you’re valedictorian with a 34 ACT, it would still be atleast a low reach.

He didn’t… 2080-2370 is the exact score range posted on that link he provided

Yes, I see that you are right, in which case admissionsconsultants is wrong. They have taken data from a year or two ago and wrongly represented it:

[College Search - Yale University - SAT®, AP®, CLEP®](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

They’ve represented scores wrongly for other universities as well:

http://www.admissionsconsultants.com/college/princeton.asp</a>
<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board;

They also called it a median, when a median is a single number not a range.

Yeah, without researching it I’d say those SAT numbers are the middle two quartiles. Certainly not the median, which cannot be a range.

Historic admit rates: http://www.yale.edu/oir/open/pdf_public/W033_Fresh_Admissions.pdf</a>
(latest: 7.5%)

Historic SAT Medians: http://www.yale.edu/oir/open/pdf_public/W032_Fresh_SATs.pdf</a>
(latest: 750 on each section, which means combined median is probably about 2250)

Note to OP: Yale has a fine science curriculum, but you do not need a science major to be competitive for med school admission. Most liberal arts curricula, fortified with a moderate amount of chemistry, some science, biology, and math, will qualify you.

What about GPA?
