Yale v. Princeton

I was lucky enough to be accepted to both, and now I'm facing the difficult decision of which school attend.

I'm interested in Philosophy or Political Science, but Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School is very appealing as is Yale's Ethics, Politics & Economics program. I really found the residential college system at Yale to be ideal, and was sort of turned off by the concept of the eating clubs. In high school, I wrote for the school newspaper and was on the speech and debate team; I'd like to continue these activities in some capacity. However, I don't want to be overwhelmed or feel like I have to compete to actively participate in activities.

I've visited both, and they have gorgeous campuses. I liked the feel of Yale, but Princeton seems to have more going for it.

Where should I go? How is social life at either school?

what do you mean by “Princeton has more going for it”?

Yale (10 char)

“More going for it” in terms of stronger departments for what I’m interested in.

I think this choice comes down to where you are most comfortable.

Flip a coin. Just by saying that “Princeton has more going for it,” it seems to me you’d prefer Princeton though.

lol yeah do that

you should decline both and go to a local community college. Thats the way the gangsters roll.

Sounds like your heart says Yale and head says Princeton. I’d guess you’re leaning towards Yale. Assuming money isn’t an issue, any preference for suburban NJ vs a more urban CT? Fill out the reply card and sleep on it. If you still feel like mailing it in the morning, you know your answer.

if your main reservation about Princeton is the eating clubs, I’ll offer you this: many freshmen go into Princeton with the same reservation. Yet, nearly all of the current Princeton students I know, along with all the Princetonians who post here, seem actually to like the eating clubs. And of the few people who don’t like them, they’ve all managed to find more-than-suitable alternatives, such as Princeton’s new 4-yr residential college system (an idea that actually originated at Princeton (not Yale, btw)), along with the various co-op and “independent” eating options.

seems like you like princeton better… go with it. woodrow wilson schools beats all.

Princeton is certainly stronger in Philosophy.
