Yale Visual Arts Questions?

Hi! I've just got a few questions i'm really hoping somebody could answer for me.

I'm planning on being a visual arts major and getting into graphic design or a design major for graduate school. My top three choices of schools include Yale, Carnegie Mellon and Virginia Commonwealth. I'm wondering if anyone could give me some insight on the visual arts department. A little general, but I can't find much on the website.

As for admissions, I know it's necessary to have stellar grades and scores. If I have a wonderful portfolio to show, how much could it potentially help me? I'm not really asking for a "chance me" but rather for how favorably they would look on someone interested specifically in visual arts, versus being undecided or going for a more competitive major, and applying EA.

Thanks! :)

If you are interested in the visual arts and you have a portfolio to show for it, I’d say more power to you.
