Yale vs Harvard, world war 3?

^^^^ summer program, don’t get the wrong idea

@Lirazel I think Harvard is more conservative than any of the three.

LUCKYYYYYYYY … oh. nvm. hahahahahaha. I was about to say. … LOL. I’d love to attend Princeton!

But AWESOME job at getting into the summer program  Still lucky. I want to go to Penn YSP

Harvard more conservative than Princeton? Please. Harvard is way more diverse in terms of socio-economic status because of the amazing financial aid it awards.

@EnoughAlready Just an opinion, never said it was a fact. I think Harvard is more conservative than Princeton.

@EnoughAlready: Complete nonsense. Princeton’s financial aid is at least as good as Harvard’s on average (and I was accepted to both schools, so no bias).

^
This is really a question and not a snark. Is this true for middle-income as well as low-income families? Harvard radically changed/raised its aid to families whose income is between 60K an 180K in December of 2007. As a result, my son went from getting $1000 a year to $28,000 from Harvard because we now fell into a range that would get substantial aid. I didn’t know that Princeton did that as well.

Anyway, they are both great schools (I didn’t mean to diss Princeton). I just don’t think Harvard is more conservative, but it would be interesting to hear reasons why you think it is.

Good luck to all in your studies!

This pdf (describing financial aid for the class of 2014) would suggest something similar to your experience with Harvard:

http://www.princeton.edu/pr/aid/pdf/1011/PU-FinAidGlance.pdf

I’m not really in a place to comment on which is schools is more conservative - I can only comment on your statement that Princeton is less socio-economically diverse because it doesn’t offer as much financial aid as Harvard. My views are quite far to the left, so basically any school seems conservative to me.

@physicshobo, I looked at the pdf about financial aid, and I was glad to see that Princeton now also awards substantial sums to middle class families as Harvard does; they didn’t when my son was applying. Thanks for that info.

BTW, my son is a physics hobo, too. He spent last summer at CERN. Good luck to you! And yeah, our politics are also quite far left for most places, so all the Ivies seem to be a bit conservative for us. I have, however, been impressed with a lot of the outreach programs at Harvard (PBHA, FUP, free tutoring - not the “get tutored by a Harvard genius” sessions that people pay for) that my son has been involved with.

And Princeton IS gorgeous.

I really think Yale and Harvard are way over rated in every way… staring from the fin ed to the people who teach there.

With 20,000+ total students and open enrollment at the Extension School, Harvard meets most of the requirements of a diploma mill. As a result, Harvard has to point out that it’s an accredited university on its Wikipedia page. Yale’s Wikipedia entry makes no mention of accreditation because if you have to ask, you didn’t get admitted.

I think I will get banned form CC for this thread… (Bump)

One of my friends said “If Pres. Bush can make it, I can make it too!” and he did. he was smart, but he had a 1700 SAT score and he was Caucasian. But every body who applied to harvard got rejected!!! Wow…

^^^ True that

Keep bumping this tread… If you dont like it, add your complains so that it can be bumped ;).

Well yeah… I guess this will be the last time bumping this

Yale just beat Harvard in the early application round of 2016 by 65 applicants.

But again, Harvard stole 19% from Yale.

And the winner goes to… WHOEVER ACCEPTS ME!

Poer4good who won?

I found out every one, including my self, in my school was rejected from both! Some got into Princeton though. So EVERY ONE WHO GOT REJECTED Vs HARVARD AND YALE.
