Ok.....so I know for a lot of people this seems like a silly question, but I have to ask. If you were accepted to Yale and NYU, where would you go? I am highly swaying towards Yale right now because of the resources it provides, the residental colleges, which I think are awesome, the finincial aid and the feeling I get when I walk around the campus, that other people actually want to help you learn and the feeling that everyone is so thirsty for knowledge! But then I look at NYU, and it has the city of course, the seperate schools, so it is easy for one to find their nitch, the fact that NYU doesn't have a campus so you are thrust into the world and thus better preparing you for life in general! And last, I want to be a theatre major, with focus on stage management, what better place to study theatre then in NY? So, please people help me, Yale and NYU are both tugging at my heart strings, any advise/input/normal resoning?

An option to consider is matriculating at Yale University with the knowledge that transferring to NYU after one or two years is possible. Also consider studying in New York City as an independent study for a semester. I am recommending Yale because it seems that you are more attracted to New York City than to NYU.

come on this is a no brainer

why don't you wait until you get accepted to both then try and decide..

If you are going to need financial aid, like more than $10,000 a year, I wouldn't go to NYU. I heard they leave you in debt up to your eyeballs. Plus it is expensive to live in NYC already.

This can't be serious, can it?

Not that both colleges don't have their pluses but this is a Yale board. You're gonna get a pretty significant bias.

Yales financial aid is amazing, its reputation will further you in your career search, and its freaking Yale. YALE! If you're going for theatre then Yale definitely fits that niche. Being in NYC doesn't mean your theatre courses would be on broadway. Thats a mistake many make when it comes to the arts- choosing their school based on the city and not the establishment itself.

Yale has a very strong performing arts program, and there is a lot of culture in New Haven and through the graduate School of Drama. It's not New York, but it will still provide more than you could ever need for the arts.

Yale is incredible, but there are many who love NYU as well. Apply to both, see where you get in, and visit to get a feel for the two. I am confident that Yale will win you over- it's got a lot of charm!

Lol, I am pretty sure now, thanks guys. I know that Yale has finincial like no other, and the school of Drama is spectular....ohh wow! My sister is graduating from Yale this year, and Im pretty swayed now, eeeerk! Im so excited!

Yale. I hear NYU makes you jump through hoops to get decent finaid.

There is no better place to study theatre than New York - except for Yale.

No offense, but I'm trying to figure out why Yale vs NYU would even be a question (even when you're talking about Stern)

why would you even ask this question. Of course Yale. I am applying to NYU Stern[Probably will be taken into Stern's Honors Program which is for 1/5 of Stern Students] and would easily turn it down for Yale.

Heh- I dont know why I question it. NYU has the city....which everyone says, the specialized schools and the .........ok, you got me.....Yale 100 percent. Forgive my momentary crazyness!!!

is this even a legit question???

Lol-I think we have gone over the fact that it is not...sorry!!

Yale's Graduate program for theatre is notable; not their u/g program

for superb liberal arts, followed by lots of self-motivated work to find theatre jobs - go to Yale

for focus on u/g theatre, with limited (to no) liberal arts classes, followed by organized transition to employment - go to NYU

dude its yale

For a major in theatre or drama consider Juilliard, Northwestern, Yale, NYU & CMU. Yale's graduate program is much better than the undergraduate program. Juilliard also offers a certificate program in Drama. The admit rate to Juilliard's Drama major is approximately 3% and many, if not most, of the successful applicants arrive with a college degree in hand.

I say wait until you get accepted and then decide. Just my advice. I on the otherhand REALLY want to go to Yale!!!!
