I agree with others - they are both so great you can’t go wrong. But as your family already has a connection with the Yale alumni network, why not go to Stanford and double your resources!

You cant go wrong with either.

Stanford seems a little better, however. Its prestige trumps Yale’s on the West coast and equals it on the East coast.

Stanford doesn’t rival Yale’s prestige on the East Coast at all. In fact, there are still some East Coasters who consider the entire Ivy League by virtue of being Ivies. They are misinformed of course…

This Gallup poll’s a decade old (and thus doesn’t reflect Stanford’s recent surge), but it confirms that, overall, the general public has held Stanford and Yale in equal regard but with strong biases on each coast. [Gallup Poll](<a href=“Harvard Number One University in Eyes of Public”>Harvard Number One University in Eyes of Public) Interestingly, the poll further shows that Stanford is well ahead of Yale in the eyes of post-graduates, a group Gallup contends, “might be expected to know better than others what schools are prestigious.”

We’ll probably see Stanford’s prestige eclipse Yale’s within our lifetimes.
