Yale economics major vs. Stern

If you wanna be an i-banker at Goldman NYC office...

What would you choose?

neither...

again, you cant go wrong with either one. Just go with whichever one is a better fit so youll be happier and get a higher gpa.

yale hands down. this is a stupid question.

^I agree with forgiven completely. Yale takes this one hands down.

me says Yale

economics > business

Yale > NYU

Is there even comparision... like any?

Please don't joke around.

yeah definately yale. It doesnt matter what major you are to do ibanking..and yale looks way more impressive on a resume than NYU

Consider what you want to go into. Yale's MBA program is the youngest out of the Ivy's and isn't considered a top 10 program, where as Stern is considered one of the best. For GS in NYC, I'd actually say you Stern is the better bet, since it's basically on Wall Street and has the reputation for being a finance focused school.

Why the hell you mention about Yale's MBA? When the hell is Economics in Yale associated with its business schoool? If ever in any school.

Have the business students hit the bottom yet?

They are both good:

not much difference between #13 and #15.

but personally, I would go with NYU because its in NY.

But having the Yale name also helps on a resume. it depends on the fit.

yale is widely regarded as top2 or top3 college in nation by most. NYU is a joke of a school compared to it imo.

I highly doubt there are many Sternies who turned down Yale!

well...I must say that after reading all the posts, Yale holds a better prestige value. I originally said NYU cuz of Stern's solid reputation, but Yale the college itself is solid, and their MBA program is #15.

GO with yale, they will give u a better aid package too

I'd go with Yale.

Yale. Obviously.

Don't be decieved by rankings, this comparison isn't close at all.

I don't get why people bother to answer all of his questions on
Stern v. Harvard, yale, princeton, blah, blah, blah

just let this post die geese.

of course he did not intend to ask opinions.
he would probably laughing at you guys right now.

Funny how people suddenly start talking about MBA when the OP was asking about undergrad. program.

well, to play the devil's advocate, many more people at Goldman, or any of the top ibanks are hired from Stern than from Yale. Yale is typically not considered one of the top banking preparation schools in the ivy. Princeton, Harvard, and Brown usually get good ibanking placement though.
