so im having some trouble deciding between yale and upenn for developmental biology... i was wondering if anyone had thoughts about the merits/disadvantages of either school..
i loved both programs, felt upenn had more of a personal touch (got a handwritten card from the program director just yesterday) but liked the faculty at yale better.. im really confused so any opinions would be really appreciated

At my grad school visits I met many people who were also in a similar situation between Yale and UPenn. (Come to think of it we may actually have met!) Unfortunately I cannot do a direct comparison as I did not visit UPenn. However, like you, I also felt that the faculty at Yale were awesome. Personally I'd go with the program where I feel I would be best able to 'connect' with the faculty. Best of luck with your decision! :)

P.S. - I also spoke with a few prospectives who did their undergrad work at UPenn. They said that while UPenn was undoubtedly a great school, they didn't really like the campus' surroundings or the city that much. However, I'm sure different people have different perspectives and the most important thing is to listen to your own feelings.

haha thanks.. you pretty much echoed my own feelings :)

Haha - glad I was able to echo your feelings. :p
