Looks like the class is full now?
I just checked the directory and can confirm it’s at 1541. I don’t know whether students who already requested gap years before May 1 are included in that figure. There’s no way of checking on Yale Connect. I find it pretty weird how perfect Yale got there yield this year given the circumstances since with this current enrollment they may not take anyone off the waitlist or they’ll take a small number.
One thing I can say is that in a Q&A with the dean of admission someone asked about gap years, and they said they’ll try and be as flexible as possible with request after May 1 if fall semester doesn’t proceed as planned.
R.I.P.
They did accept 2304 this year rea & rd vs. 2178 last year. It’s unclear if the 88 Questbridge are part of that #. In any case, if the projected class size is 1554 then it’s fairly close at this point. But until the Fall plans are really known, gap year requests could vary.
if we didn’t get an email/call, should we assume that we’re released? or is it still too early
@chickennoodlesoupppppp it’s way too early
It’s definitely early even under normal circumstances. This year, the waitlists at all schools may still see some activity as late as June/July depending on how the Fall plans evolve. Having said that, it’s very difficult to say if any or many might get off the waitlist.
oof, it looks kind of hopeless at this point/
Can someone who has access to the directory let us know what number it’s at? I’m trying to see whether Yale is overenrolled.
It says it’s at 1543. Again, I don’t know if students who already request transfers are included in that number. There really isn’t a way to tell.
@hockey731 Thanks! I suppose they’ll probably take a very, very small number of people from the waitlist (maybe around 10 people) unless spots open up because of gap years.
from some other reddit post, i saw someone say that yale already took people off the waitlist. Is that true or just fake news?
@pup123 that was fake news. someone called after that post was made and the admissions office said they had not taken anyone from the waitlist yet
ok, do you think they will start taking people off waitlist next week?
It’s impossible to say. Nothing is normal now.
Hi Guys!
After contacting the email in my portal, I was instructed to send my letter of recommendation straight to the admission officer. However, after I sent it, I never got any reply or confirmation that it is received. I tried to contact the admissions office again, and then also the admission officer from a different email, in case if it ended up in the junk mail, yet I still haven’t received a response. I tried to call them but because of COVID19 the office is physically closed. Did they reply anything when you guys sent the LOCI? I’m getting very worried because Yale means a lot to me and even the slightest positive thing to my application is needed. Thanks in advance!
If you sent it to their @yale.edu email address, it’s unlikely it’s in their junk mail. They don’t typically respond, so best you can do is be patient.
@kinght I wouldn’t email again, but I’d upload it to your Yale portal just in case!
The enrollment is at 1551 (directory) right now
That sucks. I suppose very, very few people, (if any!) will be taken from the waitlist.
