I really like Yale but I will have to have loans to go. The loans are small compared to many... about $2000 a year
For Princeton I won't have any loans...just the EFC

The EFCs at both Yale and Princeton are similar with the minor $2000 a year loan difference. Is it reasonable to pick Yale over Princeton simply for the social environment? Or, since they are both fantastic schools, should I just go to Princeton with no loans?

In the grand scheme of things, the $8K (assuming that difference will be stable over time) isn't a huge deal. If you like the schools equally well, take the extra aid at Princeton. If you really prefer Yale and think it will suit your long-term goals better, take the loans. $8K won't be a huge burden.

Unless your financial situation is desperate, I would say pick the school you like more and take on the $8K debt. In the long run, that kind of debt is negligable.

The debt is trivial. Pick the school you like and ask them to match their peer school. If the don't , go anyway and get an extra job working for a professor or something to reduce the loans needed.

thanks
the amount is trivial i know...but i guess i needed reassurance that i should pick the school that i want to go to, no matter how great both schools are academically.
