Yale/Yale-NUS RD applicants thread

Hi guys,

I guess that we should start a thread for all the RD applicants. I found some questions on Princeton’s EA thread. I guess that it’s a good way to help us get to know each other

  1. Why are you applying to Yale?
  2. What draws you to Yale?
  3. Which program are you applying to?
  4. Where did you apply for EA?
  5. What are your qualifications?
  6. What is your intended major?
  7. What are your hobbies/interests/extracurriculars?
  8. What tips/advice do you have for applying?

Extra: Have you applied to Yale-NUS too?

Best of luck guys! I know that y’all are going to kill it

  1. Same reasons as most people, awesome school with great graduate prospects. I’m really drawn to the residential colleges because I grew up in a boarding school, aesthetically I love the place, and I feel as though I’d be able to indulge in all my extra-curriculars really well over there.
  2. Same as above. Although tbh I feel as though as a candidate I’d fit more Harvard than Yale- it’s great that Yale is so collectivist but having read how Harvard has more of a ‘lone wolf’ feel and that Yale is more of a community I think Yale’s ideology differs slightly from mine… still love to go though
  3. EPE, Chemistry, Philosophy
  4. Dartmouth- straight up rejected
  5. Doing Jan SAT, got 770 Chem and 760 Bio M, 40 IB (7s in my three HL), 8A*s and 2As at iGCSE
  6. Is major just the same as a program of study, or am I being naive?
  7. Loads of music, got a youtube channel where I publish stuff. Play drum kit, snare drum, and flute all to grade 8 with distinctions, self taught piano (to a grade 8 ish standard), got a national award in drumming. Rugby and gym rat too… participated in loads of various stuff but this is more of an outline really
  8. Don’t fuck up
Extra) Yeah totally. I’d totally love to go there, and you might as well give it a shot
