Yale Young Global Scholars (Ivy Scholars Program) Dicussion

Wow guys, this sucks. I have another program that runs until the 7th… I would’ve loved to do both

Has anyone heard from the PLE waitlist yet? It’s really hard to make summer plans/apply and commit to other programs when this is still lingering around.

I think it is going to take a while. I’m not sure how it goes for wait list at YYGS, but I think I heard one of the admins on the facebook page mention that first they go through Early Decision, then Regular Decision(who are notified sometime during May I think), and then Waitlist, so it might take awhile. You can always ask a question on their facebook page and see what the Admin says.

I know someone who was accepted off of the GS waitlist a couple days after he received the waitlist email. So I’m assuming that as soon as an accepted applicant turns down the opportunity, they look into the waitlist for a replacement.

Now that the deposit deadline has passed for the Early Decision acceptees, I’m assuming waitlisted applicants would receive some news.

Hey, question - I’m applying for the Young Global Scholars program, but I’m not sending my app in until tomorrow (which is the last day for PLE). I think I’m qualified and all, but do you think applying so late will prevent me from getting into PLE?

No I don’t think that’ll matter a whole ton because its not exactly rolling admission they do it in rounds. My application was postmarked the day of the Deadline and they let me in for GS :D

Sent from my XT907 using CC

Hey guys! I’ve applied for PLE with the regular deadline. I’ve been thinking about it lately, and I’m really starting to freak out. My grades are perfect, aside from history, in which I dropped a grade (down to B) in my last exam. Do you think it’ll matter tremendously? I’m an international student (from Britain) and applied for financial aid, so I’m really worried that my chances of getting in have disappeared completely. I’ve written a really good essay, but I still fear that they won’t even read it if they see the B in history :frowning: what do you think?

Has anyone (regular deadline) heard back? :O

Does anybody know if they send rejection letters, if you don’t get in? I’m just curious, not pessimistic as I might appear :P

Regular deadline here–
I submitted my application in late March. Still no response, they just said “We’ll notify you by May 21st” after I asked on the fb page. Looks like they’re taking their time on this one

^ Me too. Still waiting

Me too! I applied for GS RD and still waiting for the decision. I didnt take any SATs ( yet) so I am worried abt the admissions. Is the program exagerrating their admission rate or is ot real? What do u guys think ?

Frankly speaking, I don’t know why they would want to exaggerate the admissions rate, apart from making the program look more prestigious. Not that they need to, it’s Yale. But I certainly hope that they do ;)

And am I going mad, because I started counting down days until the 21st? :P

I dont think a B in history will hurt ur admission. But dude, u have sent everything. U cant change anything now. I know how it feels. These days i just cant do anything apart from waiting and checking the inbox. Sigh… Going crazy.

Nzsheep> ummmm… The columbia thing is great but i’m afraid it might not be as selective as the Yale YGS as u have said it’s a rich kid program. Frankly i would choose YYGS over an Ivy summer programs bcoz everyone knows u can attend them if u hav money. It’s difficult to chance u since I dont know ur possiblities in getting into YYGS. However, if u lose both, u still can manage to spend ur summer well by doing other programs , volunteering or working as an intern. L

YYGS seems to have at least as many internationals as Americans if not more, haha I don’t know if that means anything to you but it definitely adds to the appeal for me because I love meeting people with different cultural perspectives

Riverx1> i also want to meet with u guyssss tooo.I do. I do. I want to skip 10 days to get the results!!! It would be amazing to study in multicultural environment

Hey did you get in in the end? I’m also waitlisted!

Guys, who got in, how did you guys got in? What strategies did you use to build your application?
I have been wait listed!

Wait listed as well, but let’s be honest. We probably need a miracle now to get in :(
