@grebsnig then apply next year. I applied last year and did not get in. But this year I got into ASE!! Don’t lose hope!
@grebsnig what programs did you apply for? Do you think maybe they removed you from the waitlist because the programs you applied for were already filled?
@LizUhRDG I applied for ASE, IAG, SDSE, and FST. I wanted to do a course in technology/sciences but honestly I was interested in all of the first block.
@IMartin tbh I don’t think I will. I didn’t know prior to applying that they gave so little financial aid and I don’t want to put myself in the situation where I was accepted, but can’t afford to go. That happened to me this year with Brandeis Genesis and it really wrecked me…
for those who have joined ACT in Beijing 2019- there should be a QR code in your status update which will be the way to get into our WeChat group. all you need to do it to download WeChat app and scan the code on the update. then you will be invited to join the YYGS Beijing 2019 group. HURRY AND DO IT!
Any other one who got off’ the waitlist ?
I think it’s just a matter of waiting now. I haven’t gotten off the waitlist.
@grebsnig it is true that they don’t give a lot of financial aid. However, when I first got my admission offer, I could not afford it, and then, I asked for more, because otherwise I could not go, and they gave me 4 times the initial financial aid offer, so don’t be discouraged!
Guys I’m starting to lose hope about this waiting list hein
Hey @Nnig03 . YYGS does not offer any deadlines for moving people off the waitlist and that perhaps is the worst part about it. Although, you still have a great chance of attending the program. Just be a little patient and hope for the best! Good Luck!
Yeah , I think you’re right … thank you @KshitijD101
We will able to wait till a week before your selected session. Which means if we selected for the ASE, we are supposed to wait till June 9 for the waitlist decision. Good Luck
Does int’l student require I-20 or B visa suffices to attend YYGS. Can visa waiver program be exempted?
A B visa will suffice. YYGS provides no credits and hence a student visa is not required. @lemonlulu
That is correct. @rohanthomas However, after a certain deadline it isn’t very practical especially for international students to attend the program, given the Visa requirements and sky high air fare
International students like me … I think it’s time to give up on YYGS, honestly
Even if they respond to us in June, of what use will it be?
is it me or did everyone get the email to be one of their photographers, etc.?
@bound2021 I did! I was thinking of applying for making the slideshow because I love making slideshows but I decided against it
Yeah I really want to do it since I love photography and I have experience (photographer/marketing on my robotics team). Plus, I guess I should do it if it was on my application/resume when applying, right?
@bound2021 It’s up to you. If it’s something you know you’re able to do and manage your time well then I say go for it.
I’m not doing it because I’m studying for the ACT this summer and I’ll be using my free time at YYGS to do exactly that. So I’ll be juggling ACT switch the assignments/cape stone and doing the video would be too stressful
Wait…how much free time do we get? I know that we have lectures, capstone projects, homework and more, but I was planning on doing the same stuff (studying/prepping for coming AP classes, hanging out with new friends, PSAT/SAT practice, etc). I guess I’ll at least apply
