Waitlisted for FST. Do they provide Financial Aid even for those on the waiting list? Congo to all who got in. I got a scholarship to travel to NYC r this summer and expected to ayend YYGS too. Hope they start clearing the waiting list

riazuluaga14: Your project sounds so, so cool! Can you tell us wha it is so kids can apply next year?

Essays: Definitely think my essays were the reason, my stats and ECs are nothing impressive but I’m a fairly decent writer so essays are where I shine.

Congrats to everyone!! LMK if you’re in PLE block 2 I’m so excited !!

Aight got accepted for SDSE my stats are posted in this forum before.

GOT INTO LPC WOOO BUT I NEED MORE FINANCIAL AID. I’m so excited since I was rejected from YYGS last year but I NEED financial aid

I hate posting my stats because I feel like it’s braggy and would get people down especially if they feel like they’re not worthy just because their grades or extracurriculars don’t reach that specific “caliber.” But if it’ll help then I guess.
My school does a weighted 4.0+ GPA
Unweighted I have a 3.95
Weighted I have a 4.13
I’ve taken 3 AP classes because of what my school offers per grade.
I got a 25 on my ACT. Not the best I know. But it was my first time taking it and because my school workload, the only subject I managed to practice thoroughly was English because I started studying in late July. I wish I started earlier. But I feel like my individual scores supported my application well since I applied to the Literature, Philsophy, and Culture.
I got a 34 in English and a 10/12 on my essay. I got a 25 in reading which isn’t the best but I guess that’s what happens when you’re a slow reader. :stuck_out_tongue:
I got a 3 on my AP U.S History Test but I made up for it by getting a 750 on my Subject Test.
My PSAT score wasn’t the greatest I got a 1040 but I scored high in English in the 91st percentile so I guess that made up for it too.

Okay the fun stuff now I guess.
The extracurriculars I added were related to writing. Since we could only add three, the three I put were
-Traditionally publishing a book that I worked on for 3+ years
-Started a Creative Writing Club at my school and local library for teens in my school district
-Do Violin Duets with my sister for cultural events or when playing for important figures in our culture.

For awards I mentioned
-Two mini sagas published
-Gold Key winner and American voices nominee in scholastic
-Book publication
-Honorable Mention in Local writing contest
Some awards are small but meant a lot to me so I added them anyways.

I got my teacher recs from my AP English Teacher and AP History teachers
For my essays.
The essay about my extracurricular I chose to write about my book
For inequality I wrote about the war going on in my country
For interests I wrote about how I loved perspective in literature (my U.S teacher emphasized that in my rec and I’m really happy that she did that because it tied back to this essay prompt)
For what changed me I wrote about prejudice basically.

I’m sorry if this sounds braggy or anything. In all honesty my essays weren’t the best. I could’ve done better on them and I feel like I only got in because my session wasn’t as competitive as the other sessions, especially the sciences ones. So I feel like I just got lucky. I still have to talk with my family because we didn’t get any financial aid so we have to figure out if I can go or not depending on our financial situation and so on. For those who got waitlisted or got rejected but can apply again I recommend you do so and be yourself when apply and work hard on your essays because they are very important. Good luck to you all

Got into BBS!

Doesn’t it seem a little strange considering the number of candidates waitlisted this year? I got into ASE (My first choice). This year the applicant pool must have been huge.

Do they ever publish/tell us how many people applied and how many got in?

I got in, but without enough fa, so I’m not going :frowning:

@memeqween101 101Me too!! What are you going to do to try and get more fa??

@like122 I’m also IAG! Are you gonna join the FB group?

Based on this forum, it seems a lot of people got in. Did acceptance rates increase?

@Dev5 I remember hearing that the applicant was large and their most competitive. Maybe a lot of us were just lucky??

I got accepted but I’m trying to choose between BBS and the rosetta institute summer camp, cancer research workshop. I’m looking for something that will be educational/informative and also look good on college apps. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
