Also, my boss' friend is the head of the board of trustees of Yale, so he said he would give me a letter of recommendation, or a "nudge" as he calls it.
You think I have a good chance?
By the way, I am very good at essays.

“You think I have a good chance?”

No I don’t.
In fact, I think you have almost zero chance.
Your SAT scores are about 200 points too low, and on top of that, your ECs are very typical and ordinary.
If you had 780s instead of 680s on every section, you’d have a good chance, but barring that… no you don’t have too hot of a chance.

Yea my sat scores are low, im going to work hard to bring them up to eight hundreds, will the recomendation letter help me tho

No, such letters of rec don’t do much. A trustee can barely get their own kids in.

It’s a lot to assume that you’ll receive perfect scores/near perfect scores when you didn’t test well the first time…

Class rank would really help make it easier to put the gpa in perspective.

If you were to get the scores you project then I would still say very slim chances. GPA is on the lower end and ECs are, as wavylays said, fairly generic. Well yes a letter will help, but only if you were a borderline case and I don’t really think that’s the situation.

Being “very good at essays” will only help to a certain point. It’s not how well the essays are written but what’s written in them that’s more important. Even then, it’s hard for an essay to get a slim chance student accepted.

Any hooks may help…

what race?

^Yeah… if you’re black or hispanic or native american, you’ll have a shot

I guess Asian doesnt help

it actually hurts
