Yale

Hi! I'm currently a junior and planning on applying early action to Yale University next fall. What are my chances of being accepted?

Gender: Male
Race: Caucasian (although I am a quarter Asian. Would it help me to put this on the application?)

GPA- Unweighted: 4.0 Weighted: 5.2
Class rank: 1 of like 330 (I'm tied, although I don't think that'll show up)

High School: Highly competitive, strong IB curriculum.

ACT's: 35 composite

SAT's: Still waiting on scores. My standard practice test score (I took two) was between 2290 and 2360. I expect somewhere around there.

SAT Subject Tests: Plan on testing Math II and Biology, although won't do them till June. I expect pretty good scores, especially on math.

Enrolled in all IB classes--including more higher level classes than usual--taking 8 classes a day, very rigorous schedule.

Primary extracurricular activities:

Baseball-Started in high school. I'm frankly pretty bad. But I'll be on varsity next year (I'm on JV now)

Speech and Debate-I'm a national semi-finalist, and will likely place top 3 at the state competition this year. I'll also be the head captain of my team (of 100+ members) next year.

Teen grantmaking service-I'm involved in a program that allows teenagers to donate tens of thousands of donated dollars every year to various non-profits around my community. Been a member for as long as possible (soph year). I also rose to an officer role by election this year.

NHS- Member since sophomore year (earliest possible), was the treasurer my junior year, will likely be president next year.

Synagogue youth group- Was a "future leader" my freshman year, and then the president of community service for the next 2 years, and will likely hold that position next year.

Political action- Worked as an intern for the Obama campaign my freshman and sophomore years. Will try to work for the gubernatorial race this year, but I will likely only be able to volunteer, and not get an actual internship, as I'll be away for much of the summer.

Teacher recs: I have very strong relationships with my biology and english teachers. They will likely write my letters of rec. I may have my rabbi do an additional one, as I have been very active in the community.

Will likely try to major in political science or "Economics and Mathematics," a major offered only at Yale.

Very impressive stats. In addition to all of these, if you manage to write strong essays, I think you should feel great about your application. Numerically, I would give you 75% chance of getting in. Good luck!
I personally find @amhrtst 's prediction truly preposterous. Schools like Yale reject 2400 and 4.0 applicants every year. GIving the OP a 75% chance is completely wrong.

Yale: reach (for everyone)

You have great stats but in all honesty as you may know, Yale is a very difficult school to get into.

Good luck, hope you get in

@Dilan412, I’m judging from my own experience. With far weaker stats, I was able to get into a top 10 school.
