No you have to convince the committee that you would benefit greatly from transferring to Yale and that it cannot happen without going to Yale. ie staying at the school you are already at.

So has anyone heard anything I got a standardized email telling me they were missing a professor's report but haven't recieved anything beyond that. Does anybody know when we should expect something back?

My thoughts on 32 acceptances (or whatever it was last year) is that the school accepts transfers simply for the purpose of letting in connections/favors. I'm not saying it's not possible without a connection, but I imagine that most of the spots are already taken before our applications are reviewed. Either way, I applied.

As a side note, I have heard that a significant amount of spots at Stanford are reserved in this fashion.

Unfortunately, you are very correct in what you are saying. Though, this still did not dissuade me from applying, lol.

what makes you think this?

wouldnt it just be easier to get connection based admits in during freshmen admissions, after all when they are admitting around 2000 people it is easier to hide a few less qualified applicants than when they are only admitting 30.

im not disputing your reasoning, i'd just like to hear more of your lines of thinking.

Interesting discussion. I just hope its not true!

Well I would think plenty of people with connections get in as freshman admits as well.

For those who get in as transfers with connections: Maybe they didn't apply to Yale as a freshman, or maybe they got rejected and now that they haven't gotten in they levy their connections to get in as a transfer.

I didn't apply to Yale though so this doesn't matter much to me....Although Dartmouth might also have the same situation.

I heard letters have been sent. Good luck all.

any idea when those puppies were sent?

No idea when, presumably earlier today or yesterday (or maybe the day before). expect the letter the next day or so....

yea u can just call them and get your decision.. rejected me :(

rejected!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

columbiahopeful did you call or get a letter?

dude i m so scared.. i already got rejected from two unis!!

i just called...they wouldn't release the decision over the phone, but said letters went out this morning and should be received by monday or tuesday.

thats so annoying...how did these other kids call?

i dunno, im kinda ****ed, i was hoping to just get the decision now when I heard we could call, it would do a lot to calm me down.

if anyone happens to get their decision on the phone please let the CC community know

i got mine on the phone. That is a guarantee. I have no reason to lie. After all, I got rejected. That comes with a waitlist at Columbia and Dartmouth. Some good luck.

i did... i just called gave my last name and date of birth... and they just told me that 'yale disnt find a place for me'
