Yale's location

As someone who lives in Southwestern Connecticut, New Haven isn't really that bad. From my experiences around the campus at Harvard-Yale football games and Yale New-Haven Hospital, the immediate area around Yale University is pretty. Also --not sure if this was mentioned or not(i didnt read the whole thread)--New Haven basically has the best pizza in the United States. Pepe's and Sally's are sickwitit

When my son and I visited Yale in February I picked up a couple of local newspapers. The crime stories were depressing: I specifically remember a story about the turnover among pizza delivery drivers because of the regularity of theft and assault, and the apologists claiming that it was the pizza company's fault for allowing their drivers to go to the crime ridden areas.

My parents constantly insist that Yale is in the "ghetto" and has an awful campus

An awful campus? WHAT?!?! Yale has probably the most gorgeous college campuses I've ever seen. I actually like it a lot more than Princeton's.
It has a perfect amount of greenery (large grass fields on old campus + in front of Sterling, etc) and the most amazing Gothic architecture.

And on top of that, what really stood out is that the Yale campus manages to merge with the city of New Haven while still retaining it's independence, if that makes any sense.

Ok…so I know im really late but I just wanted to say, no one ya have been to new haven so the rude comments are much unappreciated. I am from there and even though it may not be the most decent part of connecticut, new haven is very beautiful as well as the Yale Campus which 3/4ths of it happens to be spread out about the city. But yeah, it just may as well be the most richest city because its an amazing place to be in, so once you go visit and can tell me different, you might want to check those comments.

For what it’s worth, I thought New Haven was pretty awesome. Although I was only there a day or two, it had a nice feel about it (not too big/intimidating but not too small) and in a way reminded me of the small mountain ski town I live at and love (minus the mountains of course).
