Yale's Official EA Stats

If only I were born 4, hell - make it 10, years earlier...

I Harvard-bashed a little during my interview. I mentioned how I used to want to go to Harvard just because of the name, but then I visited Harvard and Yale and knew that Yale was where I wanted to be. My interviewer just pointed out that Harvard was a very good school too and let it go at that.

Glad he didn't notice that Yale is a name school too.

Since an EA admission is non-binding, the number of early applicants is larger than it was when Yale had mandatory ED.

What should not be lost sight of, however, is that a higher fraction of the class is likely to be filled from the early pool this year than ever before in Yale's history.

Consider:

The Class of 2009 has a target size of 1,305.

There wre 704 EA admits.

If the yield on EA admits is the same as last year, 620 will enroll.

This means that a record 47.5% of the Class of 2009 will have been filled from the early pool.

I guess the no harvard bashing rule or anything similar to that doesn't apply to some other schools. My Brown interviewer kept comparing Brown to Yale, and my Chicago interviewer talked about Yale, Brown, and Columbia. It's so creepy, though, because I am applying to those schools, and they are roughly my top choices. Do they know?

No. Harvard interviewers are the only ones who don't ever talk about other schools. Harvard and its interviewers assume that if you are admitted you are very likely to enroll.

That's not true...neither my Yale nor Princeton interviewer talked of other schools, except maybe my Yale one said "oh Princeton's beautiful too" when I said I had applied there ED.

My Yale interviewer didn't bash Harvard, either, but maybe that's because I applied Yale EA and figured I preferred Yale or Harvard, then since both are early action.

i didn't mention any other schools in my yale interview =)

She asked me whether I had applied early; I didn't want to lie, so I did some Princeton bashing to make up for it >.< I'm so bad, but the things I said were honest, I've seriously changed my views of the school!
