I think you put the wrong word in quotes there. It should be: the "official" prestige rankings.

I always put "prestige" in quotes.

Funny, because that's the only thing that makes your school better than any other.

I don't know. I think "location" is what helps HARVARD regularly kill SYP with cross admits as much as any other factor. At least that's what the surveys say ... including Stanford's surveys.

The Crimson Disagrees

what is this fixation on location? Doesn't this reduce to a collection of stores? Do they really so enjoy shopping? Restaurants and bars are a welcome distraction if you can't cook or visit the homes of friends. But why elevate this factor against more meaningful elements? I realize the hordes of eager virgins descend upon freshman year with visions of bouncing breasts and further unmentionables but why let the lust for sex and power stand as a credible index of quality?

I doubt that on Halloween night anyone at Harvard is giving a lot of thought to Yale. Yalies should lose their obsession with Harvard. The OP was as obsessed with Harvard as they come, until he didn't get in. For his own sake, he should just forget about Harvard and enjoy Yale.

and I wish I had a dime for everytime you repeated that sentiment cosar... Its so funny how some try to mask their condescension.

why don't you lament Byerly for all his incessant reposting of the same three yaledailynews articles about yale's inferiority complex? The fact is the same articles are posted over and over and over again on these websites as proof to some sort of phony argument that one school is better than the other because the other school actually admits it in their college newspaper. And since there are like 10 articles in total we are talking about, they are repeated. And once the Cult of Yale is posted, right on cue, like clockwork, a harvard ALUM argues that the school spirit at yale is really an inferiority complex... blah blah blah... the COFHE proves that Harvard kids are unhappy... blah blah blah... Yale kids have an average SAT score 10 points lower than harvard kids... blah blah blah... lack of undergraduate focus at harvard... crime at yale... crime at harvard... And you don't even see yourself as part of the incessant troll dance. But you are just another cog cosar.

and I think the writer of that article was lamenting Harvard's lack of school spirit with that example. Harvard has perennially one of the lowest attendances at sporting events.

Actually, the Harvard admissions office made the choice for most of you....

I've been called an "imbecile" on these boards before, but I think this is the first time I've been called a "cog". I'm not sure which is worse. ;)

I actually didn't mean it in a bad way. It was more in reference to everyone sort of re-hashing the same stuff over and over again and that you (and I) are no better.

Don't worry, no offense taken at all. For whatever reason, I just found the appellation funny. :)

I would agree that the X v. Y threads on these boards tend to be repetitive and not particularly useful. Except maybe this one: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=188584

I don't understand why Harvard people -- students, supporters, enthusiasts or otherwise, feel the need to always come on the Yale board and then tell us that we're too obsessed with Harvard. I'm glad that at Harvard you don't care about Yale. We've heard you say it many times. You don't care so much that you can say it again... and again... and again...
Why not leave a petty thread on its own? Why do adults (and some parents none the less) feel the need to drag up past rejections, or insinuate that others couldn't have gotten into certain schools? Don't you guys see that it's kind of rude, and more than that... pathetic? I don't understand this website sometimes. It truly brings out the worst in some people.

once you yaleharvard campers manage to resolve your incessant bickering please head to the world's troublespots and share your wisdom,..anything is possible
