NYU students: which team do you root for?
and the reason why? (It seems to me that the yankees often come with the connotation of being the rich, upperclass, conservative-spirited and traditional team whereas the mets represent the middle class, working family, liberal-minded and challenger team. Is it a reasonable assessment?)

noo yur wrong.. im from brooklyn nd not rich or conservative at all nd all my friends nd me love yankees!! mets suck!!

thats it totally wrong. new yorkers are new yorkers, and id actually say the majority are yanks fans. yanks are a freakin' dynasty, and when you root for them, the color of your collar doesnt matter at all

Yankees, hands down. And, I'm not rich, upperclass, etc. I agree with matt1288, New Yorkers are New Yorkers. Everyone just has their own preference.

lol my apologies for that misunderstanding. I am from a private Catholic school on long island it looks like most baseball fans in my school fall into one of those two catergories.

Yankees all the way. The Mets are a step child team.

I am a HUGE Mets fan. The Mets IMO are just more fun to watch and add so much excitement to the game

man a couple of years ago with the subway series, you could start a bar fight just with the wrong hat. same goes for RedSox fans, anywhere, anytime lol

I'm coming to NYU from Boston, so I'm not anticipating an easy time in bars or anything. Fortunatly, I've always liked the Mets too, and they recently picked up some of my favorite players (Wagner, Delgado, and Wright, while not a pickup, is sick), so I I intend on masquerading as a New Yorker when I'm there.

I'll stick with the Flyers, Eagles, and Phillies.

But I'll take a few New York teams as second favorites: Islanders, Jets, and... I'll ignore baseball like I usually do anyway. I'm a pretty avid Eagles and Flyers fan, though. Hopefully I don't get too much grief while wearing Philly jerseys from the probably abundant Giants/Rangers fans.
