wooohoo! i have 1190 words tho so gotta work on editing and revising now. yay. 18.5 hrs to go!

pfft why are you starting on it so early?

i’m doing both 2 hours before the deadline…

;D

Doesn’t the app crash every year? I don’t think it’s wise to wait 2 hours before…it might not get sent in.

Good luck!

im probably gonna start my essay for the second prompt after school today

just to add on to what heerapatel said…yea I’ve heard that the system crashes; matter of fact I had a hard time submitting my app last night, it took too long to load, system maintenance would show, internet said there was a problem; and this was at 6 o’clock at night… I didn’t fully get through til about 7:30…I had to log in and out more than 20 times
SO to be safe stay away from submitting 2 hours before; try 4-6pm ish

Definitely get it in before 3PM pacific time while the high schoolers aren’t flooding the server.

I glad this is one of the few things I didn’t procrastinate in my life. Good luck to my brothers and sisters not so fortunate to be done.

Im glad there are people who procrastinate as much as you guys do. Makes it easier for me to get into college! Good luck to all of you

Heerapatal, are you serious? I began working on mine October 1st and have spent hours each week on them. Don’t you want to be competitive? Haha there are SO MANY applicants this year!

oh man…you guys waited waaaaay too long! hpe your other sections are solid as heck!!! good luck to you guys!

yea mofros! done with mine now (sort of)! 1050 words. trying to cut 30 more

Just wondering… does it bother you other people get accepted who spent less than an hour on their essays?

Estrella, some people have other things that boost their eligibility, and some people need their essays. I commend Mike for doing what he can.

i just have a feeling transfers take the essays way too seriously

if your gpa is high and igetc is complete… do they even read them? really? lmao

One thing I have learned in life is. “you can always rely on the inadequacies of others”

if inadequacies of others = overly tailored, boring, self righteous essays then yeah i’d agree… i wrote my essays like i would an entertaining short story. not worrying about sounding smart or perfect takes so much stress out of fapplications. then again, i didn’t even think of applying to a uc until a couple of days before the due date, so i didn’t have time to stress in the first place. i guess i shouldn’t comment on things i don’t understand
i hope everyone gets in where they want to!

i kinda feel like sounding smart is different than representing your actual level of intelligence. I think it is pretty easy to spot the difference. My problem is that one of my essays was near perfect (was evaluated by someone who used to read for UCB) and the other one was written hastily and with little thought. when the reader read my second, she said it made my first sound like it was “written by daddy”. oops!
i guess the point is that the PS gives your app its flavor, and you need to represent your best attributes through your writing. so if you are a talented short story writter with an entertaining style then it will help your app by leaps and bounds. if you are not talented but try to write an entertaining essay and don’t quite hit the mark then it will detract from other parts of your app.

anywho, it is over now…but i hope we all did the right thing!
in a few months we will be posting our acceptance/rejections here i’m sure, and i hope to see you all admitted!
