I GOT MY LOA TODAY!!! and a letter saying I should get in shape since they were worried about my PAE results. Anyway.. I am happy! That of course is pending my medical (in which I have pretty bad vision). The letter came pretty fast considering I got everything in the 6th of Nov and they postmarked the letter the 8th of Dec.

Did you get a LOA or a triple qualified letter...your two posts don't make it clear and there is a big difference.

It was a LOA. I have medical scheduled next week. I already have a congressional nomination. What are the differences between the LOA and Triple Q?

An LOA means they've reserved a spot for you, pending ANY nomination and, in this case, your medical.

Triple q'd means you need to:
-get the principal nomination
-or, be the most competitive candidate in the slate submitted by your MOC, if the MOC used the competitive method
-or, be one of the most competitive triple q'd with nomination candidates on the waitlist
(all the above assume MOC nomination. Rules different for other nomination sources.)

An LOA takes some of the pressure off.

gopherkitty, Congratulations! Nice to know someone else here has received one. I received my LOA before the nomination, but it doesn't really matter which comes first. Why so late with your medical? Are you having to be tested on something a second time?

The USNA LOA contains the words "guaranteed an offer of appointment" in the first paragraph

Funny thing NavGirl.... They wrote the letter on Dec 6th the exact say they recieved my nomination and the letter still stated that my medical wasn't in! So technically they didn't know I had a nomination when they sent the LOA. Points for my ego ;)

Anyway the nom is up on the website now.

Congrats gopherkitty! My daughter also heard today from one of our senators (Calif) that she has a nomination from her office to West Point. That makes 3 noms, one to the Naval Academy and two for WP. She's bubbling over!
Congrats again!

gopherkitty: Congratulations. Receiving an early letter of assurance certainly puts you among the elite. The LOA coupled with your nomination pretty much puts you into the Class of 2009.

Make sure you take time during the holidays to thank all those who have helped you acheive this prestigious honor.
