yayy...another chances thread

current university: johns hopkins
gpa: 3.76 (actually a 3.85, but first semester doesnt get averaged in b/c it was all pass/fail--school policy)
ecs: mock trial, pre-law society, women's club bball and tennis
h.s. stats: 1480 SATs, about a 3.75, a.p. scholar with distinction

looking at: chicago, penn, yale, columbia, harvard (am very interested in english and would welcome any suggestions of additional universities)

also--considering taking a gap year b/c i realized how wrong a fit jhu was for me when it was too late to transfer; how will this look?

You'd be better of at jhu another year.

what's wrong with jhu?

You need some more grades, but coming from JHU with a high GPA, your chances at top schools (which JHU already is) are great.

i know that id be better off another year at jhu, the thing is that i dont really want to transfer in junior year...i want as much time at my college to really get comfortable, make some great relationships with students and staff, and i just feel that junior transfer is very late to do so

any thoughts?

It can't hurt to apply now if you're serious. However, keep in mind that if you end up staying for another year, you may not be able to go back to some of the profs and ask for a second letter of recommendation.

Best of luck :)

your chances are the same as most applicants from cc. it's always up in the air for the ivy's. i think you'll get into chicago though.
