Happy news for my Auburn-crazy daughter! She just received her letter in the mail yesterday that she has been awarded a Freshman Academic Scholarship. Since we are out-of-state, this scholarship essentially waives the out-of-state portion of her tuition and helps a lot toward financing her pre-vet years at Auburn. Anybody else get good news? Congrats to you, too!

Congrats to you and your daughter! I live in Alabama and also recently got my award.

Great news, Peck191. Maybe you and my D will meet on Talons Day. Congratulations and good luck to you!

Congrats to your daughter as well! Has she received her invitation to the Honors College and did she get an invitation for the Freshman Elite Scholarship? Just curious.

Hi, Gobias....Thanks for the congrats. Yes, D received invitation to Honors College but no Freshman Elite Scholarship application. Ah, well, she is very happy and we'll be coming down to visit again soon. The final decision of college choice will be a tough one. Good luck to you as well.

peck, what are your stats? i'm just wondering b/c i didn't get offered ANYTHING from auburn, and i was expecting them to waive at least the out-of-state tutition... do you think it's cuz i'm out of state?

My stats:
GPA: 4.074
Rank: 11/355
ACT: 31
SAT: 2100
Plenty of EC's, like work, President of FBLA, Sec/Tres. of NHS, Mock Trial, etc... plus plenty of awards
I'm also taking all college classes this year, and for the most part have taken the "most rigourous courses" available at my school...

I thought I'd get SOMETHING

Wow, I can't believe you didn't get notified of the Freshman Academic. Your stats definitely qualify you.

Did you apply before December 1st? To qualify, you have to have applied before that date.

i was accepted over the summer and everything, and i was accepted into the honors college, and i was notified of the scholarship and everything, but they told me i did not receive one, and i wanted to see the stats of someone who did

rspn70, I can't belive you didn't hear about it either. Here's what I sent them:

GPA: 4.08
Rank: 5/202
ACT: 32
Barely any ECs at all...

I'm confused, how could you have been notified of it but didn't in fact receive it?

they sent me a letter letting me know i was considered for a scholarship, but they regretted to inform me i did not receive it.

What were stats like SAT's, grades, extracurriculars

i have them posted earlier in this discussion

My DD's stats:

I don't know how she or any of you great CC kids handle it all! Best of luck to all of you in your coming college careers....

you had to have your application accepted way back in october/november to be eligible for the freshman academic. that may have been why you didn't get it. according to mine, you just had to have min. stats to get it, although that may have been like a 33 ACT? i don't remember.

At Talons Day, I talked to one of the admissions officers (I've known him for a few months--came into the place I worked at and I've talked to him before) and he said that about four thousand people qualify for the Freshman Academic but AU only gives out a thousand, so roughtly about 25% of the people actually got the award out of those who qualified.

I post infrequently but lurk frequently ....and learn a lot in the process :-) D received Freshman Academic as well as the fall Leadership Award. She's out of state so isn't eligible for many of the in-state scholarships for Freshman so we were very happy! Full tuition and about $1500 toward room/board. Now we wait to hear from the others......

Does anyone know how long it will take to hear about future leaders, valedictorian, presidential, etc? I applied for four extra scholarships last minute, and I know this guy at my school NEVER heard about the Freshman Elite (he just figured he never got it). When/how will we know?

i have a 29 on my ACT and a 3.8 GPA. Does anyone know if there any way i could get the heritage scholarship?? and what is the future leaders scholarship? thanks
