yeah it's another question

I gooota (yes i gooota) question... here in Amsterdam it's a college students paradise, nice city, great bars, great clubs, your legal to drink, smoke cannabis and hasj... you're even old enough to legally visit one of our cities plentiful prostitutes =D

People here don't get how kids in america have fun in college if alcohol and weed and prostitution are forbidden !! If anyone would care to elaborate how US college kids drink booze and even have parties in college where most the kids there are underage without the campus police swarming the place? Thanks

Yes, college students here do drink illegally. You are not allowed to drink under 21 here. Prostitution and drugs are illegal.

You might want to find ways to have fun that don't involve prostitutes or illegal substances. That'll serve you well, no matter the laws.

That's sad. In any case, the first two are far from absent on most campuses.

thank you for agreeing with me warbler, but my question is why campus police are so lax about such things, or are they there just to make sure no one does anything stupid ?

Because here in America, we have some actual laws.

yeah like the drinking age is 21 and pot is forbidden, that helps alot. I'm just asking a question gator.

If they're somewhat loose about alcohol enforcement, the drinking will stay on campus where they can keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get out of hand. Crack down and students will go off campus, and things will get out of control.

ok thanks warbler ! Is that the same for most schools or does that differ by campus (wet, dry etc) ?

Lol all campuses attempt to be "dry" Groenveld. No school in America wants itself to be seen as alcohol-friendly.

Ok lol... oh i know there is no school that wants to but i believe there are plenty that are known for looking the other way when it comes to such things
haha i'm reading it now and it does look funny

Groenveld9, being in a big college town, it's been my experience that police will only come and break up parties if there is noise complaint. As long as neighbors don't complain about the noise, parties usually go untouched. If they do show up, they will probably look for underage drinking, but I've seen that even if they catch someone, they'll usually scare the hell out of them and give him/her a warning. However, they do actively search for underage drinking in clubs. There are undercover agents (most of the time they're not police, but government people) who search for these kind of things. I've seen a lot of people get arrested over this.

I've spoken to a few on-campus police officers and they say that their focus is on drugs (northeast Gainesville, not very safe). They put most of their focus on that, rather than annoying some college party. So as long as you keep it down, most likely police will not come after you.

ok thanks!

because there are healthier ways to have fun...like twister : D

twister is awsome... no doubt ;)

drinking is much more fun than any of ur nerd activities

I second Groenveld9.
