Homeschooled so I started with my alg 1/bio/phySci/geometry in middle school because why not.

This left me with a sort of leap year in the two subjects. By the time I graduate I'll have 5 math (incl. 1 AP, Calc AB) and 4 science credits. Does it really matter when I take them so long as the reqs are fulfilled?

Depends on what schools you’re applying to. Many schools wants to see four years of math & science. Others don’t care.

And, yes, four years means four years. But if it’s already done, then don’t worry about it. But if they ask you to explain the gap, don’t use the “leap year” analogy . . . it makes no sense.

Yeah I have five full years of math and full four years of science, it’s just that I took two of the maths + science in middle school (at a high school level course) instead of high.

For most schools they will just care what level you ultimately attained. But for selective schools it may be different.

Homeschool applicants are a specialty area. I don’t know that anyone who isn’t an admissions officer can really asses you. But for competitive schools I think they might want to see what you are doing recently. I’d wonder why you took the classes so early if you didn’t intend to use the space in your schedule to advance your coursework. But I don’t know what is on your schedule for this year and if it is something that will stand out.
